Will you go switch to a revolver if there is 5-6 rnd mag ban?

I will not be surprised to see at least a hi-cap mag ban come out of all the emotional calls for every manner of new gun control.

This ban, should it occur, will be set at 10 rounds and will do nothing toward stopping mass shooting. It also won't surprise me to see that capacity lowered after the next mass shooting.

My curiosity is how many folks would switch or go back to a reveolver should we ever see a greatly reduced magazine capacity ban.

Before you blow this off as silly, don't forget the Aussies who went the extra step and banned all semi-autos.

Interesting point. This is not a silly proposition, coming from behind the Iron Curtain we know as California. If anything, it will start here first, then hit the east coast, as so much draconian legislation does.
It would be easy for me to transition back to a wheel gun as a primary, but at that point I think we would have lost much more than ten round mags.

We'll just have to practice more with revolvers to be just as efficient. It'll probably make us more efficient actually as our accuracy will improve.

revolvers again

I was thinking that a semi auto ban is possible. I remember before the police started using semi autos that most shoot outs were over in a few shots. These days it seems that it takes a lot more bullets. If you only have 6 then you'd better make them count!

If anyone thinks if the communistnazi politicians ban semi-automatic pistols, rifles, and shotguns, that they won't then later ban your revolvers, bolt action, lever, and pump rifles, pump and double barrel shotguns, you know nothing about what the "final solution" planned by the gun grabbers is.

The communistnazi politicians intend to eventually ban them ALL. It is only a matter of time. They never, ever, disengage.

Any ban that comes about will be on sales of magazines and won't impact those of us with "pre-ban" mags.

Carry is a state by state issue and unless a state tries to restrict what you can carry it won't impact those of us with "pre-ban" mags.

This won't be a problem for people who already have 10+ mags.

I'm sorry, but it seems as though some of you guys are just a bunch of pansies. It hasn't happened yet, and you're already fussing about like a big bunch of ******s. Stand up and fight for your rights. Even if the worst happens, you're still gonna be grandfathered as far as what you own now. Why are so many of you so ready to roll over and give up?

I am curious how LEO's or others will be able to identify pre or post ban mags?
This was easy with the '94 AWB.

I heard they were going to limit it to one or two rounds. I'm either going to switch to an Encore 15" pistol in 500 S&W or Bond Arms derringer in .357.

Funny............

.......I've been carrying either a S&W 5 shot (637) or a Ruger Speed six or a Sig 232 for awhile now. Actually use the Speed Six in the woods with 180 grainers. Didn't really care about owning a "high" cap until BO got in office the second time. Even then just wanted a old, classic style. Got an FEG Hi-Power clone with some sorta-worn but still pretty bluing. Man, is that fun to shoot! Had a CZ Compact and didn't get into it. Traded it off. But this thing is a hoot! Sometimes I carry it but not often. It was only really purchased to have a classic style pistol before you can't get them. I wish I could afford a true FN. Even Coles Gunbroker pages are dropping fast. His prices are good, but my disposible funds aren't there. I'll give him a lot of credit for not super-inflating his prices. Good guy.

I think the day they ban Browning's 1911 with the 7 shot magazine is the day I will go to another country... Let's fight HARD that this day never comes :cuss:

The 1911 has been around for more than 100 yrs now. And during that period we had decades with no school shootings or crazies shooting up shopping malls / movie theaters. Therefore I HIGHLY doubt that it's the fault of the 1911....

That wont' happen so talking about 'what if' is a huge waste of time

Old Dog: I agree with you, and every day I am less and less confident that ban (any ban) won't happen because every single place I look virtually every gun owner and 2A "supporter" has long since completely given up and is totally convinced that a ban will happen.

It saddens me how gullible y'all are, falling perfectly in line with what the media is telling you to believe.

What is this switch you speak of, I have a 4 inch Colt Lawman .357 clipped to my bed frame as my primary grab it gun if something goes bump in the night, there is also a tacticalized 870 right next to it, but time on target would be a couple of seconds faster with the revolver, and you never know when every second might count.

Also this.

Don't think that bolt action rifle would end up on the chopping block? It's a sniper rifle, don't you know...and no civilian needs to be able to shoot people from a half mile away using bullets that cut through body armour like swiss cheese. That shotgun? That's a street sweeper with so much power it will lift a man up and throw his corpse through that plate glass window. There's no reason anybody needs any of these killing machines.

:barf:

Old Dog is right. How about we at least act like we're confident that we will win. Seemed to work out in the past when I had to deal with conflict resolution.

No, while I like revolvers, I prefer semi-autos and have enough standard capacity magazines for each pistol to feel well armed. Plus, I am not a capacity junkie anyway often carrying pistols like the HK P7 which with its single stack mag only holds 8 + 1. I feel well armed.
