Wisconsin shootings

I recently saw some research showing that the brain isn't fully mature until around 25- teenagers do goofy stuff largely because of their immature brains. Most of the best cops I know took it up as a second career after doing something else first- frequently senior enlisted or officers in the military. I don't think a 20 year old should be an LEO.

Many cities, including Chicago and New York City, have a minimum age requirement of 21 years of age. I don't know if a few months would have made much difference.

It doesn't fit well into the anti's arguments since it was a cop with a duty rifle and the last thing they want is to have the few Police agencies that side with them currently jump ship.

Only the incidents that line up with their argument are used. The others they just pretend never happened.

I think they will use this case, and the fact that he was a LEO will go down the memory hole. In their version, it's just a crazed gun-toting maniac with a EBR slaughtering children.

My predictions on the repurcussions are:

- The antis will use this incident to demand a complete ban on "assault rifles" and "high capacity" magazines.

The incident at Virginia Tech was 100 times the magnitude of this incident. And absolutely nothing came from it as far as the antis are concerned.

I believe absolutely nothing will come from this.

I'm with Rifleman on this...things just don't add up. He shot himself three times in the head? And once in the bicep, for good measure? What happened to the reports of a "police sniper" that fired as he was "running for the woods"?

As always, it's a shame that we'll probably never know the full story there.

Here is some pure speculation bordering on irresponsibility: considering Crandon is a very small town, it isn't beyond the realm of possibility that some of the responding police officers might know or even be related to the victims. Whether this may have contributed to the three bullets to the head, who knows.

Whether this may have contributed to the three bullets to the head, who knows.

I'd be shocked if it didn't.

IF this guy was able to shoot himself THREE TIMES in the head then I think we need to consider resurrecting one of the Zombie threads........

Come on now.....

I grew up in a small town in West Texas called Breckenridge. There was a rancher there that "shot himself" with a 12 gauge. The body was on one side of the truck, the gun on the other and no blood trail. Ruled a "suicide" this incident among a couple of others earned the small town a place on Paul Harvey's radio show.

The quote from Harvey in about 1984 or so was "if you want to get away with murder go to Breckenridge, TX".

So it's WELL within the realm of possibility, small towns have some interesting ways....

Tinfoil hat? Well maybe but I saw Doc Moons body first hand that day, my good friend was on the police force and came UNGLUED when the Sheriff (it was outside the city limits) declared this a suicide and the Justice of the Peace agreed.

Even more so when his widow's next husband died of self inflicted gunshot wounds. :) He shot himself in the head multiple times. He did it with a single shot .22 and he had to reload twice!

Yeah, sure.....

There are documented cases in the forensic literature of people shooting themselves in the head multiple times. Obviously, it's quite rare, but it can happen.

(I don't have the citation handy, but as I recall the record-holder was a prosperous and successful man who locked himself in his office and shot himself in the head with a .38 special. Five times. With shocked earwitnesses outside the office. Jim Cirillo's book has an account of one crook who not only survived a shootout with a boatload of rounds in him, but walked to the ambulance... after he blew his nose and a bullet fell out of his head and onto the floor. No joke. And I was personally at a death scene where a guy shot himself in the head and elected not to do it again, but spent a considerable amount of time attempting to doctor himself up afterwards. He was able to stand up, walk all over his home, and treat his wounds, so he could have shot himself again if he'd wanted to.)

It's amazing that the goblin in question was apparently able to do this with a .40S&W, but I guess it goes to show you that shot placement really is important. The last moments of his life were probably excruciating.

I have a feeling with all the hostility towards him he was shot and lost his gun and some one else shot him 3 times in the head:what:

They probably wanted him alive and it went very wrong, now we will see how it unfolds.

I remember a story about a guy killing himself, and then was shot numerous times by others:what:

Three times with a 40 S&W round. That is not going to fly, ever.:banghead:

Normally I don't like to resurrect ancient threads, but for some reason this incident popped into my head.

Plenty of time has passed for a full investigation.

Just wonder what was finally decided actually happened.
