Howdy, folks. What's the best deal you've ever gotten on buying or selling a gun? Mine, which isn't too good of a deal was a brand new Ruger P89 at a pawn shop/gun shop for $300. My second best deal (which I've yet to hit up due to funding problems) is one of the FFL holders/gunsmiths in my hometown is a pretty good friend of my father will do any transfer for me at cost as long as he gets to go out with me and break it in.

The best deal I ever got on a gun was the $399 S&W M&P 9mm Compact I just bought. My local dealers all wanted between $570 and $660 Plus Tax and NICS. I paid a grand total of $470 including a 3% credit card fee, shipping, insurance, FFL transfer and NICS. That's $142 less than my best local deal.

This has been covered many times here at THR; run a search and it should
yield tons of "best deal's"~! I have found too many "best deals" to mention;
but one that keeps poping up seems to be the 2nd series (99%+) Colt Agent
with the enclosed ejector rod and high polished blue finish that I snagged for
$120~! :scrutiny:;):D:cool:

I got a Remington 700 BDL in perfect condition, with leupold vxII-3x9 and metal guncase for $450 out the door.

NEF Pardner Single Shot 12 guage shotgun in nearly perfect condition at an auction for $60 a couple weeks back.

While buying magazines for a Browning Buckmark I see the clerk hang a "Clearance item $39.99" around the trigger of a Rossi single shot rifle and place it on the rack. I tell him "I'll take that rifle too, doesn't matter what caliber" then he tells me to hold on because he's got to grab a Federal Form and the 12 gauge barrel that came with the .22 mag rifle!!!!!

Very nice. I'm very jealous

I guess the best deal I've got was a NIB GI 1911A1 for $17.

Probably next best was a new GI 1911A1 for $25 and a GI M1 Carbine for $20.

But then, considering the cost of M2 Carbines today I suppose the about $35 I spent to build a M2 Carbine Conversion kit was a good deal.:)

1896 dated Finn M91, with eagles, with the rare PUOLUSTUSLAITOS stamp for $50.

Still kicking myself for missing the $200 Garand in the CMP grease by 15 minutes.

Back in '98 or '99 I was watching a Colt Python w/4" barrel and Pachymar grips for $650 in a pawn shop in Knightdale, NC. It stayed there about 2 years and one day the owner who knew I was interested in it told me I could have it for $450 cash out the door. Long story short, it's mine and I just put a rosewood Hogue grips on it. It stays in the safe most of the time but I do shoot it on holidays and sometimes when I get a "wild hair"!

My wife's former boss hits yard sales every Saturday. One day, he casually mentioned at a yard sale if they had any WWII items and the homeowner said yea, his deceased father had something left over from the war. He came out with an M1 carbine in a GI case. Don got it for $45. He could barely contain himself from his excitement, but he went home with it. I don't think anybody can beat that deal!

Good deals all......M2Carbine, I like yours best. How many years/decades ago did you aquire those .45's?

I found a pristine East German Makarov for $130 at a local pawn shop.

Early 60's through the NRA.

Oh, I forgot about the NIB GI 03A3 and 03A4 for $14.50 each.

Based on 20/20 hindsight, I'd say the best "deals" I have gotten were on Colt Diamondback 22's. Some were real good prices at the time also. Now I want to see some deals on Smith 41 magnums.

Way back in 92 or 93, when you could still find deals at the gun shows, I stumbled across a dealer selling Ga State Patrol trade in 4506s for 200.00 a piece.

I bought all seven. I tripled my money in less than a month.

I wish I would have kept one.

Recently it was a trade at a gun show for a Marlin 39 made the year I was born (49) for a SKS.

10/22 carbine with a Bushnell scope already installed and zeroed in for around $213. Not a stellar deal, but not bad.

And that was about a year and a half ago.

Norinco SKS mint condition for nothing on a bailey's lean from a tenant that didn't pay his rent. Too bad it ain't mint anymore after a few thousand rounds of ammo that I've fed it.

As in all these type threads, you have to specify when the deal happened.

Besides inheriting some GI issue WWII beauties (free), I picked up a like new norinco 1911 for $250 and NEF handirifle for $50 last year, and a SA M1A Loaded with 8 mags just recently for $1150.

I bought 2 Thompson Contenders, one was a 30-30 and the other .222 Remington. There was also about 50 rounds of .222 Remington ammo and it had a 4x scope on it. Both were 14" Super T/C barrels and old style Contender Frames. I paid $555 for both of them. I took the scope off the .222 and put it on the 30-30 and kept that one. Sold the .222 for $255. The 30-30 I kept shoots fantastically. Both guns had the original T/C wood hardware and the wood was immaculate on both.

220 dollar SAR-2 from AIM surplus in 2001. Pair of 90 dollar Lee Enfields the year before from the same company..one of which was a No.4 Mk2...Excellent condition, British original condition, not Indianified.
