Zinc plated steel case ammo?

What is your experience with zinc plated steel case ammo? Does zinc make a good metal for plating steel cases for corrosion resistance? I know it does on screws.

I've had zinc, polymer, even old Chinese copper coated steel ammo stored in basements for years. Never noticed any corrosion on any of them.
