Grimjaw +1

and by the way the .45 is wayyyy better than the 9mm in every way. No advantge to the 9mm, none somebody show me the upside...

Put me in the category of those not wanting to rush the old fudds into the shower rooms and furnaces today. I say bring them on board and reeducate but if you really think that you can take on every single fudd and all the antis at one time you are out of your flippin mind. There are far more fudds and a lot of other middle of the road people out there than you might think. They do not repond well to threats and personal attacks. They will not crumble so easily like Zumbo did.

No need to start some kind of "lynch mob". Time for ALL gunowners to work together.

Well, considering even the Moderators are split on this issue, the suggestion that we tow a party line is reaching pretty far.

However, all of us are committed to keeping this board civil. And we do not want to see this become a rallying point for coordinated attacks upon each and every writer who has ever said something in their career that folks disagree with. Going after Zumbo was appropriate. Going after a writer for something he said over a decade ago is not. The time to act on that was then. Doing it now looks like what it is - a witchhunt.

Hell, the law even imposes time limits to pursue people for criminal acts by defining statutes of limitations.

Petzal doesn't appear to support another AWB, even though he supported the first one. People make mistakes. Bill Richardson voted for the original AWB, but he is now firmly against a new AWB. If he works against a new AWB, we should support him. If he makes the same mistake he made in 1994, the market he writes for will decide if he should remain in business.

So, F&S is removing messages of dropped subscriptions and related contrarian remarks from their blog.
Very interesting

Later I guess we can expect a scientific poll of the comments they let remain showing support for Zumbo, Petzal, OL, F&S and banning military style rifles running 10:1.

When do these magazines and their blogs stop being instruments of entertainment....or is the spin and censorship just an example of following the money?

Best,
S-

I stopped reading field and stream

when I was 14....a loooooong time ago ....I think I'll just continue doing that.

I always buy Small Arms Review and read my NRA mags cover to cover.

Deception and half-truths have prevailed in each instance that the “powers-that-be” want to ban evil black guns. I recall back in the 1990s, the Michigan State Police developed a video for television through which they intended to show the total devastation an AR possesses. They stacked about 45 cinder blocks loosely as a wall, stood back and fired on them from about 40 feet. Of course, the wall came tumbling down.

When confronted by a pro-AR group as to why they used loose cinder block instead of a genuine wall, and why they didn’t then stand 15 feet away, they retorted, “We can’t do that, the bullets would bounce off the wall and kill us!” More deception of the evil black guns.
Oh, it's WORSE than that!

I believe it was CNN that ran a story in which EBRs were shown destroying cinderblocks, while "hunting" rifles were shown having NO EFFECT AT ALL. It turns out that the "hunting" rifles weren't even actually shot AT the cinderblocks! I guess you WON'T see target effects on NON-TARGETS! They were eventually forced to re-write and replay the segment. Needless to say, the "hunting" rifles obliterated the cinderblocks.

For the most part, there is nothing more lazy and dishonest than a "journalist". There are exception, but not apparently too many.

I was fired up last night, stopped posting, slept on it.....and I am still fired up.

A few folks are saying "this was 12 years ago! let it rest" well those bad decisions and comments Petzal made 12 years ago are now rearing their ugly head.

Why? He WOULD have gotten a pass IF he kept his mouth shut. Instead he goes on a diatribe on his blog calling us mental patients, yahoos and then denies the severity of his words and actions in 1994.

This isn't a witch hunt. What some are failing to realize is Petzal himself made the 1994 issue relevent again with his comments on the blog.

I think this whole episode is healthy myself and a long overdue housecleaning. This is an important message that those with a public voice need to heed.

The hunting and sporting crowd has had two blatant public posts of opinion (Zumbo and Petzal) offering insight into where they stand on the second amendment, it is clear that maybe we never were united to begin with. This is what needs to be worked on.

But that all the Keyboard Death Squads here and elsewhere went after Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer and their ilk with the same single-minded purpose!

What makes you think we DON'T????

The last I checked, it was a LOT easier to get a magazine writer fired than an elected official recalled. Since ANYONE can be a customer of a magazine, but the people that would cast their ballots in a recall election - are the same ones that put the gun-grabbers there in the first place!

I appreciate your concern, but rest assured that as far as *I* go, I think I have enough "Keyboard Death Squad" energy for ALL antis - Fudds, politicians, and then some!!! :D

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure MY F&S comment was deleted too (I mentioned boycotting the rag, er, mag. ;) )

Waitaminute waitaminute.

The hunting and sporting crowd were the ones who broke this thing, remember? After all, who was reading Zumbo's blog before this past weekend? Not the tactical types! It was the hunters who blew the whistle on him and got the rest of us fired up.

And it sure wasn't only the "assault weapon" owners who called and emailed and got the man fired. That was ... all of us. Hunters and non-hunters, black-rifle owners and non-black-rifle owners, handgunners and shotgunners too. ALL of us.

So watch with that broad brush, wouldja? If there is anything this sorry affair has illuminated, it is that the great mass of gun owners will in fact stand together when it counts.

We just gripe and complain about each other the rest of the time ....

Could somebody post a list of URL's for the various hunting boards.
I'd like to start visiting them but I don't know where to begin.

Well said. It wasn't just the crowd who took offense that Zumbo saw turn on him.

Don't get too caught up in the conception you wield great power, folks. Zumbo's transgression was read by folks who were his fans, and brought to light by his fans. These guys you call "Fudds" took offense to it.

This little witchhunt affair, going after everyone who said something, at some point in their career, that looks suspect. This won't fly.

This too shall pass. The words Zumbo said inspired a groundswell of outrage, across the entire spectrum of gun owners. No one had to coordinate it. This effort to go after EVERYONE won't. People only like to see so much carnage and bloodshed.

Go Google them.

I've had enough of this. This thread is closed.
