What is the last gun that you bought?

Colt M1892 New Army & Navy revolver chambered in 32 WCF. Purchased from cabelas this morning, for a whopping $340 (they were asking 399). It has been well used, and I imagine some old cowtown sherriff carrying it. It needs a little work on the lockup, but trigger and hammer action is pretty nice. Mfg 1905-1907. I now have a pistol to pair with my 32 WCF 1873 rifle (1882-1884 mfg)!

Whoooo boy, I retimed one of those once- fun, fun!

I was able to get a new hand, cyl.stop, and bolt, but springs are unobtanium. Eventually, I had to buy a roll of spring steel stock and make my own.

Good luck, bro! They are pretty neat guns, the very first swing-out revolvers.

Thanks, good to know a general person can retime one. I pulled the side plate off yesterday and took a gander inside. Its dirty, but all there. I think the big issue is in the ejector star; its gear teeth are pretty worn, as is the cylinder latch. If I squeeze the cranes neck against the frame, the cylinder has almost no wiggle.

Numrich has some parts still, including the ejector star.

So a little sidepiece... the serial number has been sanded off, and there are 7 somewhat equally spaced notches on the right side grip scale. Maybe a bad guy owned this at some point.

That brings up a second issue. I am under the impression that only military versions got the walnut grips like mine. But I haven't found anything saying the military got the 32 caliber pistols, especially when the 38 was found to be insufficient at stopping crazed Phillipinos.

I really wanted it because of the chambering, as well as me having 8 more colt revolvers that were based on this exact pistol.

Well, the grips I was expecting were lost by USPS for awhile. Finally arrived, and they needed some dremel time to get them to fit ( still need some tweaking ). I like them, but they may need to grow on me some if I'm going to keep them on this pistol.

I like those! That's something of a surprise to me, because I don't usually go for fancy grips!

Assembled from parts accumulated the last month or so.

Keep me away from Academy Sports PLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAASSSEEE!!!!! I went there just to browse. Right.

And how DID THAT go?

Saw a new Sig 365 I'd never seen before.

So I bought one.o_O

They had 7 in stock. Now, they have 6. If I HADN'T bought one, they'd have sold all 7 before I went back to buy it..... such is my karma.

It's a nice, small compact gun, and I'm liking it.

My wallet has entered another protest, though. I do wish it would learn SOME discipline. :what::evil::fire:

After much research on what short action rifle to buy next...I picked up one of the new Winchester Model 70 Featherweights in .243 Winchester. Outstanding fit and finish, like they should be. Mounted a Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10X40mm up top on Talley lightweight rings. Was zeroed in 4 rounds and printing sub-MOA groups with Federal blue box 100 gr. Very pleased. Now my other Win 70 in .280 Rem can take a break this deer season.
That model 70 is beautiful!!!

Was looking for something in 10mm, but got sidetracked by something else ( post #10002 ). Finally got around to getting this. Had these grips loose in the safe, so put them on for now. New ones were supposed to arrive today, but didn't. Maybe tomorrow.

Those are some interesting grips! The medallion came from one of the 1967-68 Colt WW1 Commemorative 1911s, but appears to have been inlaid in micarta or some similar material.

1971 Ruger 10/22 SP
Kinda beat up.
Thought was to run it as a hunting gun "as is".
But it's too messed up even for me.
So............do I tear it all down and coat receiver, refinish stock and then keep it.
Or do I just take it to a show.
Or do I keep the stock and make something more custom (inlet for GM heavy taper 19" or just add a GM 20" sporter)?
Already have a target build 10/22 and a CZ 455

The stock on your 10/22 is a hard one to find and would sell easily for $100 over at Rimfire Centrel.
