Now it may or may not be true anyone ever said you could have any color model T you wanted, as long as it was black...but after a range session today I'm wishing that were true when it comes to concealed carry.
There are waaaay too many good options.
I had my S&W 6906, a Walther 9mm Q, a S&W CS9, and .45 S&W 1911scE at the range today. Was going to do a little shoot-off amongst some of my carry-able pistols. (All work for me here in the Pacific Northwest...not a lot of shorts and t-shirts even in the summer.)
Well, first I shot the snot out of the 6906. One not-too-big hole at 10 yards. Then the Q the same way. (Which surprised me as I figured the Q, with its much vaunted striker-fire trigger would outshoot the old-fashioned 6906, it didn't!). Then the CS9 a bit more spread out but still good for me and finally the .45 and very acceptable it was.
I didn't bring the Smith 642 wheel gun or .45 Shield but I shoot both of them reasonably well.
What's a body to do with all that choice? If someone would just hand me a nice .38sp J frame and say, "It's this or a big stick" life would be a lot less complicated.
After today's session it's gonna be the 6906 for a while. 'Till I do it again and then who knows? Maybe back to the Q, although I notice I'm carrying it a bit more than the almost-forget-its-there of the CS9. Probably not the 1911 as I don't really like cocked n locked.
And god forbid I try something new. I refuse to handle the new mini-Sig 365, I don't shoot Glocks well so they are out...and any of the other pocket rockets are just gonna confuse me more, so at the LGS I look but don't touch.
Maybe I'll just stick to the 642 and make life simple. Then again, maybe not. Anyone carry a Sig P6?
