We all know that properly treated 440C is nothing to complain about
and as with most knives ... we do not need for any other fact that we want it!

I think the possibility to use 1911 grips makes this one interesting
and the design/geometry is quite likeable too IMHO.

Anyone got exp with these?
Talk me out of it! :D

I handled them at blade and posted some pictures.

Neat knife, but in heavy use it would produce hot spots and blisters. For light use and "bragg'n rights" it would be great.

I've seen more money spent for less fun and you can actually use this for something.

I can see the advantage of 1911-feeling grips on other firearms, but on knives, not so much.

i showed these to my girlfriend last week, and she said, "hmm, someone might want one of these for her birthday." ;)

i'm gonna have to get one in stainless steel and brown grips to match her Springfield 1911A1.

I've seed the work Adam Brown (olympus?? on here) does with his grips. I believe he is selling 1911 gripped knives as well and his grips on them are much better looking than those.

Brownscustomgrips.com I think is his site. Great guy to work with.

I own one. While they are very well made and the lock design is strong they are heavy for the blade size and the 1911 grip shape while great for a pistol is awkward for a knife grip.

I have mine as a high quality novelty item, it's equipped with the same 1/2 checkered / smooth slim grips as my EDC 1911 so its part of my BBQ rig.

If you are considering buying one here is a test: Next time you are at the dinner table eating a steak, look at how you are holding your knife. Now try that hold with your 1911 grip. If that's comfortable for you buy the 1911 knife!

Sorry I'm late to the thread, but yes I have a few of these knives. I'm a dealer for Ultimate Equipment's M1911 Knife. The ones I have in stock are all 440C steel, but I can order S35VN steel on the next batch. And yes, the knives are interchangeable with all 1911 grips, full size or compact/officer frame size. I've had quite a few people approach me about making matching sets of grips for their 1911 pistols and their 1911 knives, so I though I would see about being a dealer.

When I first got the knives, I was extremely intrigued by them. They are extremely high quality and have a very smooth open. I quickly set aside two out of the batch just for myself, one full size and one officer size. I've already got a matched 1911 and knife combo for myself. Here are some photos:

I even managed to snag a couple of the fixed blade models which are REALLY nice, especially the Damascus steel one.

And here is what I have set aside for myself. Full size black nitride with a set of my amboyna burl grips that match my factory two-tone CBOB with matching amboyna burl grips.

1. Fixed! Amazing! I love it, cost? On their site it's 139, but for 440c it should be cheaper?

2. The lock type on the folder?

The 440C full size is $109 and the compact size is $105.

Specific info on the locking mechanism can be found on the Ultimate Equipment website.

Olympus... is that a real damascus or an etching? What's the price on those, with a set of red palm grips to boot (gotta match the set you made for the 1911 right :) )

Honestly, I don't know the difference or how to tell. Knives and steel have never been my forte. Now guns and wood are a different story.

An additional $55 for red palm custom grips. But if you buy a knife and a set of grips, I take $15 off the total.

Handled a few of those , perhaps one of the worst feeling knives in the hand.

Ergonomics are not there. Look "cool" , unfortunately left way too many hot spots , in any long term use they would have your hand aching.

I don't know about continued, long term use, but I've carried one of the compacts every day since getting them in and I've really come to enjoy it. They come with a clip that can be attached if you like to wear them that way.

Ergonomics remind me of a really thin 1911, so that's definitely something I'm familiar and comfortable with so I don't have any complains. And if you want the knife to be even thinner, swap out the grip screw bushings for slim bushings and order a set of slim grips. Then it will be really thin.

Have carried a 1911 for 20 years now ( concealed ) , however the ergos of a 1911 and this knife are way different , the grip on the 1911 is way thicker.

Opinions and tastes vary of course.....

take a look at the gerber freeman in s30v from cabelas. i guess its a "cabelas exclusive". about 100 dollars. cocobolo handles. I have the folder version but im doing a little modification to it now. The handles were to black for my taste. I soaked the handles in varnish remover and now putting about 6 coats of clear on them. still waiting for them to dry. Dont know why they thought putting black coating on such beatiful wood anyway. I think it will match my emp well. Plus the steel is so good. More of a hunting knife though. not for edc. Just my two cents;) Though these knives on here match well.

I just picked one up today... Feels really stout, and uses a 440 SS... not too shabby. Would for sure recommend to anybody needing a VERY nice knife.

hmmm the fixed blade versions look and feel much better than the folders, I seem to recall that there were higher quality ones that came in s30v as well

You can actually get the fixed blade in S35VN steel now. I did have one in stock, but it sold at a gun show this past weekend. They ate excellent knives!
