Thanks everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. Now I've got to figure out the rest of the "furniture" for the build. With all the choices out there, it sure makes narrowing things down a bit harder. I know if/when I have more questions, I can count on your suggestions.

I understand about not being an AR guy. I've used them, and they're fun, but I haven't really felt a big need to own one. I had a deal come up on these lowers, and thought if I'm ever going to do one...I should probably jump on it. We'll see how it turns out.

Pig or goat would be his preferred critters. I don't think he took a rifle with him. as an outfitter told him he could rent a rifle for $50 while he was there, and it would cost him $80 to take his with him. He did indicate that they would be driving a jeep of some sort while there.

Your dealer should be able to help you out. When they received the firearm, they enter it in their gun book. When they sold the firearm, they should have disposed of it in the same log book. I would think it wouldn't take much effort to look that up, and provide the manufacturer with that...

Why should it be different from a private citizen buying stolen goods (unknowingly)? From my understanding, if I was to buy stolen firearm, I would lose it, and I would be out what I paid for. Not sure what the answer is, but I'm sure that pawn shops could probably purchase insurance to cover...
