Preferably from those who own or have owned one. Accuracy, reliability, and ease of use, please.
AR15.com is much like "Days of our Lives" when it comes to good information.
I want a simple go to rifle for 0-300M ranges in and around the home and farm. I already have/had several AR's in both...
FWIW, I reload for my G20, but I use an aftermarket barrel. The stock barrel will allow my case heads to expand past .433, where the aftermarket barrel will not go past .425
You can reload for a stock barrel, but understand you are working the brass a lot. It becomes brittle the more you work...
I have had success using very small charges of Blue Dot for 308 loads that are less that 1000fps. They are amusing and make very little noise, but you have to be very careful with many things. This is not for the casual or distracted persons.
I shoot from my back deck, but sometimes I get tired of hearing myself talk to myself. I am like "why don't you just be quiet so I can shoot?" Of course, then I have to make some smart reply like "you can't shoot worth a damn anyway"
It goes on and on until I get fed up and go back inside.
If you are not shooting a 10mm in a pistol, then you man card should be examined for fraudulent markings.
Lots of people on this board lack a sense of humor. I have enough for at least three people, and I will share.
I carry a full size G20 10mm. No issues whatsoever, other than it is a bit large.
The compact version is the G29.
10mm is a reloaders caliber, unless you are financially gifted and can afford the good stuff, or like .40 S&W power factory loads.
Even though, I cannot say enough good things...
It is still an issue with my new 3rd gen G20. I use a LWD barrel in mine to keep smilies at bay.
Off the top of my head, the stock barrel will allow case head expansion of around .430+, but the LWD barrel stops it cold at .425
I am at work, but I am pretty sure of these figures. If anyone...
I was never a big Glock fan, but the G20 is the only game in town when it comes to a reliable $500-ish 10mm.
I finally bought one, and it has been great. I reload, and the 10mm is great fun to load for. You can load anything from sub-40 caliber loads that have no recoil, to hot 10mm loads that...
I have one for my G20, and it has been flawless. Tight chamber for support for my reloads, and as accurate or more so than the factory barrel. It dropped right in with no issues whatsoever.
10mm automatically makes you 79% manlier. It is not recommended for Women, as they may become more manly than the Men.
Osama is still hiding because he fears the 10mm.
10mm is measured in Kilotons, not Pound Feet. My loads are 240KT gold dots.
The final best reason to get one: You can make...
I like mine, and have small to medium hands. Recoil is a non-issue, nothing like a hot .357
I use a 21# wolff spring and a LWD barrel. I reload all my own stuff, and it is my CCW piece. The 10mm is great fun, and does many things very well.
"Fanboys" are bothersome regardless of type or caliber. Good luck with your AR. Once you spend some time with a properly functioning one, you will most likely grow to like them.
Lots of good info here. Thanks for the responses. we will go look this weekend, and I will post what she decided on. This is HER gun, and she has shot my guns, so she does have an idea what she wants. Also, thanks for the cornered cat link.
Thanks for the comments so far. I will have her pick what she is comfortable with, then base the decision on whether the pistol is a quality item. I have pretty extensive training in shooting, being ex-law enforcement, ex military, and, a general gun nut-so I am not sure why me teaching her is a...
Ok, here is what she sent me in an email: I don't want anything too big, heavy or powerful. Just enough to conceal in a purse and be effective.
I am thinking a surplus P6 fits the bill pretty well. I would prefer 9mm, but a .380 may also fit the bill. She is a small girl (5'4" 115lbs) and...
