I do not keep the detail list you do on equipment. It has been about 30yrs and what I paid then would not even be accurate to today's cost for the same. I do however keep track of cost per shell on anything caliber specific. The best I can give is my .257Roberts: Buying each shell ina bullet...
I pick up range brass even if I don't use it. I take it home, decap and tumble it. I figure I might find a trade for it. I just got an Upper receiver for the 6.5CM I had built up and another guy is bringing me some .257Roberts brass for my can of 9mm.
I had a Marine tell me he was getting out...
1/9 if that helps. I did a write up on it long ago. I haven't changed a thing on the rifle since despite 12k rounds having gone down its barrel. Dreading the day I have to replace it...

Edit. It looks like the...
I have played with the idea, but would a .357 bullet be a real gain over the 147gr HPBT design of the XTP? Of course, the .358 offerings look promising as they offer a better BC. However, those I would have to size those down for sure. I wonder if a Polymer tipped BT will come out commonly...
I have two:
DPMS based AR build: .223 Remington, 50gr Zmax over 26gr H335 and 3150 FPS from a 16" barrel. .38" or better every time. (40gr BlitzKing and 27gr Varget was just as good, but cost more)
Old 98 Mauser: .257Roberts 100gr GameKings over 48.5gr (.5gr over listed max that was based on...
I am. I have thought of buying a sizer and sizing 358 bullets to suit. However, for a 200yd (Absolute max) deer gun, these will most likely work for now.
I am currently experimenting with this round. I am using LilGun with success. I did a run of 100gr .355HP's that I got 2650fps out of and grouped 2" at 100yds. Also a load of 147gr XTP that shoots nearly MOA so far. Now looking at velocity and deer hunting with them.
There aren't a lot of...
Kids are great for this!!! Mine are doing about a 5gal today with me while we watch shows (anime fans, sorry) and get ready to load a few hundred later (just got a deal on pills for our .380's!)
I do both as I see it.
I load "plinking" loads. These can be for the family .223 consumption where I use the clearance components so they can pop clay pigeons on the berm. Or my reduced cost/recoil 45/70, 30-30, and a couple others. Using cast bullets that I don't expect to group the best, but...
Daughter wanted a CCW pistol. After checking one of her choices out I wanted one too just a different model. Wife said fine if she gets a .410 and my old CCW Kimber Micro. Done Deal!!
Already at home and been shot.
From top to bottom: daughter's, mine, Wife's.
And the wifey's .410 which she...
I have noticed on 3 different gas shotguns (20ga not 12) that those same loads don't seem to cycle as well until they have been broke in a bit. Federals in the same guns worked right off the bat. All three of those I took home, cleaned, and went back out and had no issues. If that helps.
I picked up a walnut version (Field) of the SA20 over the winter. Love the gun! handles well, shoots anything I shove in it and the recoil makes me able to go through 200rds in a setting. Though the financial manager says that is to be a rare occasion. I don't have "safe queen" guns so it is...
Nice Rig. I used to have that same round. Built on a 1919 "Fabrica De Armes" 98 action. It had a decocking knob on the back like a Springfield would. I kick myself all the time for getting rid of it. It was a pawn shop pick up that the owner didn't figure he would ever sell because of the round...
I am afraid the stock went in a garage sale to a guy who thought he could repair it. You can't see the crack in it, but it is there under the fore end and running across the mag well to the trigger guard.
Maybe not necessary, but it is one of those things I am tempted to try. Not to mention...
...of the rifle will be the old WWII action.
As she sits right now
I am looking to an ER Shaw replacement this spring. I am thinking of doing the 40* shoulder round, but am undecided at this point. I am looking for input on that. I do know the work list that I will send her for to return her...
Thanks for the replies guys. I figure I will pick one up. At worst it becomes a novelty gun I take out the the trap range just to make people look twice and keep it for HD use. Who knows it might throw slugs pretty well at 50yds for deer drives?
With so many state elections coming up and arguably more at stake than in 2016, I figure a call to vote belongs in the activism page. Those who disagree, will find out when Congress and so many governors are anti-gun. So I post something I posted a while back (April). I sit in Norway now but...
I am looking at getting a general purpose and fun shotty to use with them at the trap range, in the woods, and maybe even in a 3 gun match at some point. I am a Marine and have more than a few AR builds at home making this an attractive one off shotgun for me to try out. I held the standard...
My kids have had open access to theirs (no keys) since they have had them. I gave them access to the ammo later, but still younger than 14. No issues yet.
