Get the one you like the looks of best. Or will use the most. Then as means become available, order a replacement barrel with the faster/slower twist. One gun, two uses. Might be an option for you.
As a side note: I seem to remember that these rifles, the early ones at least, were a...
I built two of these from kits. More than likely, it is a nipple problem. Either the nipple is "mushroomed" as suggested or the caps are not the correct size. Another possible problem is that the hammer is not aligned properly. My first kit the hammer was not centered on the nipple. If I...
Yep! Works pretty good. Used buffalo fat as well. It works but goes rancid pretty fast. Then the smell sort of makes you think twice about it being such a good idea.:barf: When shooting a lot, I generally usually use a "spit patch." I stick a patch in my mouth, measure and pore the powder...
Don't forget to clean the ring from around the tub. My wife gets real 'tiffed' when I don't.:uhoh: You are correct in the lingering smell as well. I've been known to climb in the shower with mine as well. ;)

She might be the reason he is like he is. He might have to let off steam someplace:)
Years ago I was shooting on a public range on BLM property near Parshall, Colorado when a car load of loudmouths arrived and started shooting up the hillside. Not even at targets. Just...
I may be a little late to this party and I may sound a little harsh here. My personal thoughts are for you to go buy the cheapest legal shooter you can find. If you have never shot BP and apply for a ML permit and wait to see if you draw before you buy one then you probably won't stick with...
Generally depends on the weather and to an extent the time of day the animal is back to camp. The idea is to get and keep the meat cool as soon as possible.
We used to have a team stake shoot. The stake was a 4x4 pole. The object was the first team to cut the stake in two (make the top fall over) was the winner. Well, some of us were known to drop a couple of extra balls on top of the patched one. (as a side note here, after three or four shots...
From my experience, yes, half cock is the safest way to carry if you want to have a cap in place or the pan primed. Have to keep an eye on the cap though. They tend to disappear when needed while carrying like this.:uhoh: OF course it is safer to wait and cap or prime just before the shot...
All of my experience is with GOEX so my comments are in line with that. Years ago when I used to shoot 50+ pounds of powder each year we had an unwritten rule of thumb. We would use FFFg for rifles up to or equal to .50. Also used FFFg with handguns. We would use FFG for rifles equal to or...
Before you go tho that trouble try to shoot it out. Take out the nipple and put in a bit of BP. Screw the nipple back on, cap it and fire in a safe direction. This should move the stuck parts out. I've done this several time and have seen it done several times. Works well. Another option...
Check the Cruise Line's web site. I'm not sure and not a lawyer but I'll bet you will not be allowed to carry and especially to Mexico. I could be wrong so check the Cruise Line. (Like you, I've never wanted to take a cruise.)
It's not that difficult. Don't try to think it to death. USE VOLUMN only when dealing with Black Powder or the substitutes. The use of the term "grains" is used as a reference so we know how to mark our measures. Don't try to confuse the issue.
This last year anti's went after the Boy Scouts in Colorado. I'm 57 and I shot there when I was in scouts (Way back when;) )

I used to have guns sitting in corners, in drawers, on table tops, etc. My children are grown and are responsible enough and knowledgeable enough when it comes to guns. My daughter (25 then) moved in with us while going through a divorce. No problem. She does not have kids. Ok! I came home...
