I had one in 204 Ruger - awesome varmint gun. Wish I still had it. I would work up some reduced loades for the 223. You can load it all the way down to near 22mag levels with Trailboss powder, and still have a solid reliable load density.

Ditto. You really aren't paying very much for the scopes they throw in, so you won't be saving any real coin by trying to find one without. You should be able to recoupe your cost by selling / trading the scope after the fact.

Its hard enough to stock up ammo for the "common" cartridges. A year ago i picked up a CZ-52 - my first gun that shoots 7.62x25... I still havent been able to fire it, because I wont pay $1 per cartridge for S&B, and the surplus is dried up. Its really buming me out.
