    Aged Mexican loop

Made a couple mistakes on this one, so I used it to experiment with the aging process. Realized after it was aged and finished that it was just too light. I double dipped it after finish work, which is never a good idea. Then aged it again, then finished it again. Not 100% sure if I'm finished...

    Standard Mfg 1911

Couple weeks ago I did some trading for a couple new leverguns. A Rossi R95 was in stock but the R92 had to be ordered. When I was there I looked a couple Standard 1911's. One in full blue, the other completely color cased. I realized they had a really nice combination of traditional and modern...

    Rossi R95 "Triple Black" .30-30

I looked at this rifle a couple weeks ago at the local shop. I very much like the idea of a modernized levergun and have no requirement for all my levers to be traditional. So the combination of features with the threaded muzzle and integrated receiver sight/scout rail, along with the overall...

    My first Colt single action

My first Colt single action, a New Frontier .45Colt. I've had this damned thing for 26yrs and never managed a decent picture of it. These aren't that great either but it's the best so far. Got it for a good price in the late `90's. It had been used and mishandled a bit, the cylinder scratched...

    Horvath Lil Ruger

Way back in 1990, at the ripe old age of 16, I was already a couple years deep into an American Handgunner subscription and well on my way to becoming the sixgun nut I am today. I was already a fan of folks like Bob Milek, Ross Seyfried, JD Jones, Larry Kelly and others. Chief among those early...

Frank James (frontier holster pattern) and friends

I always wanted to do the flat topped Frank James version of the Slim Jim. Here it is, along with four more to ship this week. Two for 1860's and two for rimfire single actions. Last one is for a 3" 1858 but my only mule is an 8", so it's pictured without.

New Uberti 1873 Hunter short rifle in .44Mag

Can't find a picture of it but UbertiUSA posted a video from SHOT. Looks like a 20" half octagon short rifle with recoil pad, pistol grip stock and a forward mounted picatinny rail. I'd love to know what htey had to do to get the toggle link action to stand up to .44Mag backthrust...

US finished Pietta SAA's on the horizon

These are made in Italy and finished in the US with real bone charcoal color case hardening. They were announced back in October.

New Colt Pythons in blued steel

Yep, real bluing. Not DLC or anything else. Hoping they follow with blued Anacondas.

Anybody strip a Marlin mar-shield stock?

I've got a levergun from the early `90's I need to refinish this winter. Wondering if standard chemical strippers work on it or if I'm in for a mess.

    Here's one for the `58

Double border stamped walnut with an aged finish. Got some nice wrinkles out of it.

    Russian hardball in an 1860???

Oh yes we did! Pretty sure we're going to hell for this one. Wanted to try some cheap Russian steel case hardball out of the Kirst conversion. It works just fine, extracts a little sticky. Quick 10 shots at 15yds offhand. Definitely needs a taller front sight. May cut it back to 5".

    New Pietta Frontier Sheriff's .45Colt

New addition and a new stump. I bought one of the Springfield HiPowers a while back, shot two mags through it and decided it didn't do anything for me. So today I traded it for a Pietta Frontier .45Colt. These are really nice guns. The action is slick, the grips are wonderfully shaped and have a...

Uberti 1860 .45ACP conversion by Goons Gun Works

Just a sneak peak at this little gem. Goon and I have been talking about doing one of these since he first started testing the Kirst .45ACP conversion. I ended up sending him a Uberti 1860 and yesterday it came home. Did a little bit of shooting this afternoon using factory .45ACP hardball. Yes...

    A few new holsters

It's been a slow year for leatherwork, I've only finished one holster this year before these four. This is a copy of a pattern I saw in Guns of the Old West magazine. Original made by Bianchi Frontier Gunleather for Dennis Adler. I really liked the color and stamping pattern. Needs some tweaks...

    First hunt of 2023

Nearly forgot to post this. Couple weeks ago I went on a two night camping hunt on our family property. Decided this year I needed to get out there before all the leaves have fallen and that means squirrel hunting in the weeks before blackpowder season opens. I'm working my way towards camping...

    Best AR finish for fall

Let me first say that this is a fun thread, not something I take very seriously. I put these together because I liked the colors, not necessarily because I think it matters. While it's true that there's very little black in nature, I don't necessarily care about camouflage for hunting and don't...

Lightweight (but not too light) squirrel rifle

I've had this Ruger American .22LR for several years but it's been dormant for the last few. I initially set it up as a pseudo-Scout with a CZ Scorpion rear sight, Tech Sights front tower and a red dot. This year I've decided to do things a little different. Tired of waiting for frost and...

Midwest Alpha kit on a PSA AK

Put the Midwest Alpha kit on my PSA. Along with another PA 3x and a Streamlight Protac. It's the long version forend with the railed dust cover. I dig it! Had to order an M-lok tapeswitch mount. Gained a bit of weight but it's an impressive piece of engineering. It actually went on pretty easy...

Floral carved tanker rigs from El Paso Saddlery

Two new floral carved Tanker rigs from El Paso Saddlery. One for 5.5" SAA's and one for 5.5" Colt cartridge conversions. The latter will also work for small frame guns like my Old Model Single Sixes. Their work is still excellent and these delivered in four weeks. To go with this one for...
