Pretty sure they are cast. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. If you wanted to "clean it up" you could look at replacing it; pretty easy to do.

Just a thought, if the ammo doesn't shoot well through the rifle, the 5000 rounds are arguably not worth as much. Just an idea. Either way, though, you can most likely resell them and get their value back and still get a great deal on the rifle. Good luck!
