Do you like your .45 acp?

The CZ-97B is my 1st choice for a 45 ACP but it's a bit heavy for carry. If you're already shooting Glocks then I think the Glock 21SF is an excellent choice. I also liked the Glock 36 I rented a lot, but I decided I prefer the CZ style guns C&Led and so I'm consolidating my automatics to that...

Say goodbye to the Browning A-Bolts

I have an Oly Arms 243 WSSM AR gun. As a rule of thumb the WSSM are the highest velocity cartridges in their caliber barring wildcats. I can load my 243 WSSM with 105 gr A-Max bullets going about 2800 FPS (over my Chrony) and the ballistic tables tell me their still going about 1100 at 1000...

    ruger 10/22 barrels

I have a Green Mountain with a Stinger chamber. It's crazy accurate, will feed and fire just about anything, and mine is drilled and tapped for the Volquartsen scope mount which is a nice feature. The Butler Creek tension barrel I had on it before was just too light to hold steady. The 16" GM...

    CZ or Tikka

I'd pick based on the features I needed but my gunsmith buddy who makes custom rifles for a living told me the best bang for the buck is the Tikka, slightly edging out the CZs in accuracy and being lighter makes them better for dragging through the woods. If you have your heart set on a set...

    Most Attractive Semi Auto

CZ 97B, blued. I liked it a little better before they added the front serrations but it's still my all-time favorite.

    Looking for a good 9mm

I like the CZ pattern guns. Not sure if you can find a CZ in your neck of the woods. I do know that Norinco imports a clone to Canada, but I don't like buying from the Chinese if I can help it. Glock 17 will function flawlessly, as will a SIG 226. Hi Powers are nice but I like the ergonomics of...

What is the best combat handgun in use today?

The one held by the guy still standing at the end of the fight. :) Seriously though, if my ass were on the line and I had to trust an out-of-the-box gun my 1st choice would be an HK USP in 45 ACP. Now, if I had to conceal it, the HK is a little on the large side. If I could test it for a...

Thinking of a .45 but need opinions

The best 45 ACP handgun in my book is the CZ 97B. Particularly for the money. They are even becoming more readily available used. My #2 choice would be an HK USP, 3rd would be SIG P220 SAO, 4th would be the Glock. If the Glock works for you it's an excellent and reliable firearm at a reasonable...

    Best "quality" pistol made?

My personal vote for a self-loading pistol: ITM (aka Solothurn aka Sphinx) CZ-75 patterned pistols. All the design refinements of the CZ-75 with the legendary quality and precision of the Swiss. My AT-84 is one of my most prized handguns and I got it used cheaper than most of my CZs. My...

    Burris scope: Good or Bad?

After making a lot of comparisons and shooting a lot of scopes both nice, and cheap, when it came time to spend the big bucks, I put my money in a Burris. I think they were the best value. For a long range target scope I'd be very tempted to put my money on a Nikon. The Nikon Monarch UCC's have...

Chrome-Si or SS springs in AR?

Everyone is right on the money. SS will hold up better to long term storage in poor conditions but CS will hold up better to long term use. I went with CS for my bulk purchase because I store my magazines in sealed containers in low humidity environments so the corrosion was not an issue.

    which caliber for lever gun?

Marlin in whatever caliber you decide on. I wish they made one in 454 to go along with my SRH. I might settle for the Rossi / Legacy Arms / whoever is importing it this week Puma 92. If I did I'd get the stainless with the fiber optic sights.

    moly coated bullets

I like moly bullets because they look cool ;) There seems to be slight differences between them and non-coated bullets, but I don't think there is a clear winner.

Would you/do you ever carry a Glock in your pocket?

For me, no pocket carry without a good pocket holster, regardless of gun. I'd pocket carry a Glock with one.

How many "Wal-Mart" guns do you own?

My Dad bought my 1st two guns from Wal-Mart. A 10/22 (can't remember what age I was) and my 11-87 Premier for my 18th birthday. Neither of us have bought from them since (15 years).

I have no idea what to lube?

I remember reading a huge boasting essay by the company that created it for Ruger. It's supposedly a special alloy that's made to be very durable but still easy to machine to reduce costs and prolong tool life. I can't remember how I stumbled on to the article. Apparently it's now a much more...

Is it me or do local gun dealers not seem to know about CZ?

I'm lucky enough to live less than a dozen blocks from the dealer closest to the importer here in KC. They'll even stock a Tactical Sport on occasion and have the CZ reps on site 3-5 times a year. I currently own a RAMI, 85 Compact, 75B, SP-01, and a 97B. I carry the RAMI and 75 pretty...

    Which 9mm?

I love my CZs. I found a used AT-84 (Swiss CZ 75 clone). Fantastic gun. It was my 1st 9mm CZ pattern gun. Already had a RAMI, 85 Compact, and a 75B full size all in 40 and I just bought an SP-01 to add to the family. I want to get a CZ 75B Compact 9mm now. I'm trying to sell my 85 Compact and...

RCBS Decapping Die-What a crappy design!

I use a Lee 50 AE resizing die for my universal decapper. Except of course for the brass that's too long, or the 50 AE stuff. In which case I don't bother with a separate step and just resize the brass. It works well enough I've never bothered to buy a real decapping die. The Lee decappers are...
