1911 cocked and locked Without holster

Sir, I have dropped a C&L'ed 1911 exactly once in about 50 years of carrying them in every kind of holster, and Mexican carry without a holster.
It only takes once in public, especially when you're going to need it shortly.

I had a "think , blink, flip a switch", moment and that's when my holstered C&Led Kimber hit the ground. Slid right off my belt. Mexican carry would have prevented this cause I would've grabbed the pistol and put it on the sink instead of relying on my belt and holster to due their job.

You are correct. And to Mexican carry YOU must be smarter than your belt

Nice try, but using your seriously flawed "Bathroom Technique," the Mexican carried 1911 will drop right into the bowl.

You have to pay attention, no matter what you're doing.

I'm not the most calorically enhanced fellow ever, so the gun does shift in my belt.

The minuses of Mex carry are numerous and well documented. I'm amused that so many people are defending it so rabidly.

The OP's question was:
Would any of you feel comfortable carrying cocked and locked 1911 just tucked in waistband, no holster?

My answer in post #2 was yes, with certain qualifications.

Now, 105 posts later, it is still yes, with certain qualifications.

I was not defending it, or suggesting others do it if they don't feel comfortable doing it.
Just answering the OP's question.

Nope. I would have grabbed it first, instead I relied on the holster.

This is the point, holster or not, You have to pay attention.

Not defending it. Just pointing out that sometimes "Murphy" wins.

New thread coming up! "Has your gun ever left your holster unintentionally?" This should prove that holsters aren't all THAT much better than Mexican Carry.;)
