I shot this "doe" the day after Thanksgiving with my new old classic 1909 Mannlicher-Schoenauer. It was the 1st deer I've killed with it. I had to shoot it left-handed @ 60 yds. I'm right-handed. Luckily, I had the scope set at 1.5x.

Yes, I know it's not a doe but the state says any buck that has antlers less than 5" is an "antlerless" deer so I had to use a doe tag on it.

Beautiful rifle putting meat in the freezer. Congrats.

My son tipped this one over on Saturday from 172 yards across winter wheat with a 6 Dasher with a 105 Hybrid leaving the station at 2817fps, connecting at 2544fps. My son’s action hasn’t delivered yet, so I stuck the Bartlein barreled Defiance action of my match rifle into his Manners Gen 2 Compact Stock a couple months ago for Kansas Youth Early Season, but we didn’t get a shot that weekend. Heavy quartering away, my son drew a line from about his diaphragm through his heart, just into the socket of the far shoulder. The bullet drilled a hole through a near side rib, through the very edge of the near lung, and blew up, turning almost half of his heart into a crater, and pushing it through half of his backside lung in pieces. He scrambled on his belly for a bit under 10 yards to the edge of the wheat and rolled down a creek bank where he expired. Not a booner, but he’s bigger than either my or my wife’s first bucks, and at a younger age.

Congratulations to your son. He set the bar high for the next buck

Here we go again.

World's smallest 7-pointer? Not really visible in the picture, but it is. Ran past me in a driven hunt at what felt like 100mph, I had a second to aim and took the shot. It severed both neck arteries and down it went. Easiest and cleanest field dressing job ever.

I harvested a nice big doe this morning a little after 8am. Got it gutted out and took it back to my brother's place and got the hide off of it then we went to the Greene Rod & Gun Club to check out a frew beaver traps we set yesterday and set another one today.
Here after lunch we will probably hit the woods again.
Hit it high in the shoulder and took the bottom of its spine out. Dropped right in its track.

Today's doe compared to a year & a half year old doe.

Me and the pigs finally got on the same schedule tonight. Took a short ride over to the farm to try out my new thermal and ran across these three little hams about the time I got out of my truck and slid my boots on. They were right at 30 yards and closing when I shot the first one in the face. Doubled up his little brothers pretty quick. I’m a fan of this Pulsar Trail 2 and this POF Rogue in 308. Mighty handy combo. CEEA25C7-F140-445E-8707-B06EA60B343A.jpeg 0A132CC3-5001-439C-9720-6DE2D8944CB1.jpeg

Our small group did good filling tags this year.
I got another decent size doe yesterday late afternoon.
Shot it about seventy-five yards out in a over grown hay field. IT ran about twenty-five yards or so and expired.
This one makes number ten for our group.
Today is the last day of New York regular gun season.
I seen one this morning and could of shot it but let it go to have a pair of fawns come spring time.

Shot this one just behind the shoulder. A ice pass threw shot. No wasted meat.

We had three deer hanging on the meat pole. We only went hunting this morning. I could of shot another decent deer but let it walk on off. We got back around noon and got all of the front quarters and back straps cut up and put in the freezer.
Tomorrow we will work on the six hind quarters and then get the cubed meat through the meat grinder and put that meat in the freezer.

My father and I both were successful for the firearms season

I took this moderately sized doe with my Marlin .444 using the 265g Hornady Superperformance at 23 paces.

I am even happier that my father was able to get a deer this year.
He had a one knee replacement surgery back in August and was barely able to get out to our woods. The new knee was progressing well, but his other knee was hurting a lot (that one was replaced last week).

He got this spike buck with the Marlin 30-30 that he had originally bought for my first deer rifle. For a spike it was rather large given he got 10 more pounds of meat from it than I ended from the 4 pointer I took with my Crossbow (posted earlier in this thread) back in October.

Congratulations to you and your dad. Even nicer using old school caliber lever actions
