Best I Could Find In Rural Mississippi

I bought these Federal American Eagle .22lr - Copper Plated 38gr. HP ammo for 400/$25 (.0625/ea.) plus shipping. They were in bricks of 400 with 10 boxes of 40 rounds in each brick. If these work good in your firearms you might want to get some while the getting is still good.

They came in today in fairly fast time - 4 days. They want proof of age so I used my retired police ID and that was okay. I was tired of scrounging for .22s and tired of severely limiting my plinking with them so I got 4,000... for starters. There is no limit.

I don't have much faith in Trump wining the Presidency, so I was thinking that if the last 7.5 years were tough getting .22s the next four+ are going to be hell if HRC is at the helm. For me this is a trade off. I'd rather pay more today than have none tomorrow. Besides, How much more do you think they will come down in price even if Trump wins? YMMV.

Go to the bottom right hand corner of their add. 400/$25

Good god man, where is that? I haven't seen .22 stacked liked that in years here in Washington!
Apparently it's now a regional thing - our local gun shop's shelf has looked like that for quite some time.

Actually, his shelf looks better than that as he has much more variety.
He's been refusing .22 deliveries / offers for quite some time.

We have a relatively new shop that's had a tough time getting into the supply chain that has also started refusing .22 offers from some of his suppliers.

Prices for a brick of .22 usually run around $5 more than Walmart, so he's not price gouging - he's had the Federal AutoMatch on sale for $19.95 / brick for months, so he's right at Walmart's price on that particular round.

He's within a dollar or so on the 100-rd. boxes of various .22 (CCI, Winchester Super X, etc.)

That picture is In a Dicks sporting goods in southern Indiana. I travel some and was in Texas back in the spring and it looked like that in every gun store I walked in.

You guys are lucky.

Walmart, Academy, BPS, are all selling out in this area as soon as it arrives. I can get 50rd boxes of Armscor from a LGS but they're 5.00 per box..

I've been buying boxes of Winchester Super-X from Midway, but they're 10 cents per round too.. As mentioned, I'd rather pay a little more now and at least have something.

4 Wal-Marts within 25 minutes of me. The closest no longer uses up valuable shelf space on the rarity that is .22, so you have to ask if they have any under the counter. The next one had a case on the shelf, I got 2 boxes of Winchesters for $20/555.

Academy Sports has been good for me lately,,,

Academy Sports has been good for me lately,,,
I've been buying Mini Mags and Remington Golden Bullets for $7.99/100.

It's been in stock nearly every visit which is 2-3 times a week,,,
And they stopped the 5 box limit so I've been stocking up again.

I picked up 2,000 rounds this past weekend.

I'm still not seeing it at Walmart. Merchant Firearms in Chandler seems to be able to keep it in stock, most of it at 8-10 cents a round. I have not seen CCI mini-mag. I've been looking on line but anyone at reasonable prices is sold out.

There is only one gun shop in a 50 mile radius of my home that has its shelves stocked like the picture in post #129 and that’s because they are gouging. They are not moving the product and that’s why the shelves are stocked.

I haven’t seen a .22 in our local Wal-Mart for the last 7 years. It’s my understanding that the employees are not stocking the shelves and saving it for themselves, “preferred” customers and friends.

For whatever reason the .22s are not showing up around here, I decided that I’m not going to be denied and the 6 ¼ cents a round for good quality ammo I mentioned in my post #126 is all the motivation I needed. I made good on my “threat” to buy another 4,000 rounds. 8,000 rounds now and the Mrs. offered another 4,000 for my birthday and I may take her up on it.

Saw-Bones: Glad you found it.
Over the next four years, .22LR might go up and not come down more than a few cents/rd. if Honest Hillary is elected. But this might not be the real problem.

2,000 rds. of both .223 and 7.62x39 were just carried from my front porch to add to the 'heap' for both Billary and retirement.
Any new high tariffs/bans on imported ammo would be welcome news to US manufacturers and even a vast number of Second Amendment supporters. And .22LR is not considered ammo required by what the Always-Irrational-Left calls "weapons of war".
We should not count on Russian/Ukr./Rom. (etc) ammo being exempt for many more years.

The 2 Wallfarts I have to chose from both reorganized their ammo cabinets with in the last 3 weeks & they each have 1 tiny spot for 22 about a 50 count box wide. Once again when & if they get any in the usual suspects buy up what comes in. I have decided to boycott Wallfart until this changes.

Excellent point! If Trump wins the Presidency and implements his trade policies we might get stung again… at least in the short term. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. :fire:

the main walmart I shop at did not even have a spot on the shelf for 22 for several years. than a few months ago they added spots for several varieties of 22, but the only actual 22 ammo I ever saw was some 22 shorts and 22 shot shells.

last time I was there the spots for 22 ammo were all gone again except for the 22 shorts.

the guys at the counter tell me different stories depending on who is there. some say they have not seen any in several years and other tell me it sells out very fast but comes in pretty regularly. I don't know who to believe.

I can get all the federal champion I want now from gander via mail order.

I have been told farm and fleet has 22 on a regular basis but I have yet to see any.

a salesman that calls on us where I work says the walmart near him gets 22 in every thursday morning and he stops in about once a month to get his share.

When all of this began several years ago following Sandy Hook I generally would find 22 LR at Gander Mountain located in Twinsburgh, Ohio and also at Dicks Sporting Goods Macedonia, Ohio both about 10 to 15 minuets from me down the interstate. Never had much luck at the Walmart but I never really overly looked for the stuff as I had plenty. I also saw it available at the Cabela's in Columbus, Ohio as we get to Columbus from Cleveland often (kids and grand kids). Managed to keep myself and my son shooting through the drought pretty much on what I had laying around.

The system is a pretty fragile system and it doesn't take much to trigger another buying spree. The political winds, a mass shooting, anything can cause it to happen all over again. While not looking for 22 LR it does seem to have returned to the shelves albeit it seems to cost a little more but Sandy Hook is going on 4 years ago. I figure anyone stocking up should have a good stock by now. Here in NE Ohio it seems to be abundant in the places I mentioned and a few weeks back my wife and I attended the new Cabela's Opening (Avon, Ohio) and there was plenty of the stuff.

I buy 100% online and last few orders I placed for loading supplies 22 was available and I passed. Cabelas, gander mountain and midway for sk+. Too bad the first 2 I also have to pay ks tax.

The President does not have the power to tax or institute tariffs, only Congress does. An Executive Order instituting tariffs would be grounds for impeachment and removal from office.

@mboylan - Neither I or Ignition Override ever said anything about an Executive order for a tariff. I know that and I’d bet that Ignition Override does too, but I'll let him speak for himself.

You are aware that the President will try to coordinate with Congress, hopefully a Republican Congress, to carry out his agenda and implement his plan? Presidents have generally taken this course of action up until Obama’s attempts to blatantly and unilaterally usurp Congress’ authority.

I seriously doubt Trump would do that, but if he did, I really don't believe the linguine spined congress would have the intestinal fortitude to initiate such a proceeding. They would more likely file suit as unconstitutional and hand it to SCOTUS.

The local Wal-Mart had 100 round packs of the Winchester Super Speed 40 grain solids the other day. Still with the 3 box limit.

I bought three boxes on evening, came back the next morning and bought three more. It didn't look like anybody bought any in that time. I shopped a bit more then came back and it was a new cashier at the gun counter so I bought the last two boxes. They had plenty of .17 rimfire stuff and .22 magnums but I got the last of the .22LR in that Wal-Mart.

Still pretty regularly available at the Bass Pro in my town, out on the shelf (no longer behind the counter), and without purchase limits. Usually, it's the AutoMatch 325-ct boxes for about $20. The other day, though, it was 100-ct boxes of either CCI Standard or Winchester Super-X, for $9.99 and $9.49, respectively.

I bought three of the latter. A week or so before, I bought two of the AutoMatch boxes. I'm well-stocked, but typically buy some when I see it just because I can.

.22LR is readily available again here in my little corner of SW New Hampshire. The 100-ct boxes or 500-rd bricks of most brand are running $9-10/100, Federal Automatch is around $25/325 and bulk packs of plinker grade stuff are $30-40 for 550, depending. You might not be able to find exactly what you want in every shop you walk into, but there will most like be something that'll work.
