All,

I would like to survey and see what folks are using for 9mm 124 or 125 grain loads, specifically with Bullseye.
I used to load my 9mm w/ Universal and sometimes HS6. I started using Bullseye thats what I use for my .38 and 45acp.
Anyway, I worked up a few loads with Dardas hardcast 124gr .356" set to 1.125OAL using 4.3 and 4.6gr.
I dont' have a chronograph but those 4.6gr loads seemed quite hot. Energetic enough that I probably won't be reloading those again. 4.3gr seemed kinda hot too. So I want to check what others have experienced.
The Lee Manual states a starting load of 4.7gr, I'm glad I didn't try anything more than that.

For 125gr LRN hard cast the older Alliant data says 4.9grs is maximum for a velocity of 1,165 fps. Your 4.6gr loads where likely moving over 1,100 fps and are at or close to typical factory velocity for this weight bullet. If you are not getting any leading and they're accurate enough then there's nothing wrong with them.

If you want to lighten them up a bit because you are gettng leading or just want a milder target load Speer lists 3.5 to 3.8grs with their softer swaged bullets at velocities between 929 to 962 fps. Anywhere in between the 2 extreems will be OK to use.

I cast my own & use wheel weights for the lead. Dropped on a towel, not in the water from a Lee mold. I have about settled on 4.0 for my 124 grainers. I'll know for sure tomorrow(if no rain) after running 150 of them. My 4.6 loads seemed a little hot as well.

BTW, I'm using Bullseye too.
