One often hears that the majority of street cops do support the right of law abiding citizens to protect themselves from crime, and this news release does offer such hope. Also, a few days ago, the NY State police union issued a less supportive statement, simply reminding the citizenry that they did not propose and pass the SAFE act, and are placed in the position to have to enforce it, regardless of how their members feel about it. Here is a link to the Albany police statement............ http://blog.timesunion.com/capitol/...-blasts-safe-act-as-foolish-unconstitutional/

That statement from the Albany police union is actually pretty surprising. For a city police force, it is fairly strongly worded, although certainly not so much as previous statements from counties like Saratoga or Erie.

I do hope that residents of states other than NY and CO (and a few others) will still remember us here now that the latest nationwide battle is seemingly won. Our elected officials really went out on a limb with the new gun laws here, but now it is becoming clear that they are not going to have the support that they probably thought they would get.
