Anybody actually conceal a black powder revolver/firearm?

MC Gunner I wouldn't want to load a full charge of 777 or Pyrodex into any brass framed gun.
They do make an all steel version of the Remington pocket, I remember one video in which the shooter actually loaded his with a cast .32 S&W-Long wadcutter ontop a full charge off powder.
What is the max charge for one of those .31 chambers?

I normally shoot pyrodex in it. I've got the scoop out in the range bag, don't remember the FFF equivalent. The gun is a toy, not a carry. It's fired 10 rounds of 777 for chronograph testing. It's no worse for the wear. :D

I know all about wearing out brass framed .44 Navys. I did that back in the 70s. I have another, a Pietta, now, shoot 21 grain equivs of 777 in it or 25 of Pyrodex, powder puff loads. I really don't shoot the .31 a whole lot. I just got it because Gander Mt had it on sale 15 or 20 years ago for 60 bucks, couldn't resist. :D

Most of my BP revolver shooting is with a ROA. I sorta like accuracy. Can't wear THAT one out, not in my lifetime. Maybe if I put 500 rounds a day through it or something.....

That's right, guys, keep telling yourselves that a romantic affectation is some sort of rational choice. Why not strap on a rapier and a big hat with a feather in it, too? Heck, get yourself a cape and use it to distract your assailant while you're at it.

Don't have a Rapier nor a Cape but I do have a few Broad Swords or Sabers & instead of the Cape I'll keep em guessing with my Kilt on..

I reckon all us "romanticists" could tie a bear hide over our nekkid bodies and walk around with a big club. We'd either get a lot of attention, or be completed avoided.:)

Pulp, I'm not too sure I like the way this thread is going. Next thing you know folks will be claiming my BFR (Big F#%@&^* Rock) won't do the job. They will be wanting to down play the slow sub-sonic velocity and lack of penetration. I don't carry it very much these days, since my Navy weighs a lot less than my three pound AR (assault rock). It's also hard to find a comfortable holster for my rock. Anyway ~ its been quite amusing.

Voodoochile ~ I bet that's quite a picture, big ole horse pistol and a kilt.

There are a lot of pocket pistols sold, in .32, .380. 9mm Makarov,
and 9mm parabellum. of these it has been noted that at the velocities available, expansion is a sometimes thing. The Ruskies had a pretty decent idea, instead of try to make it expand, give the bullet a more blunt profile. this has worked out well, it pretty much takes a 9mm in service length barrels to beat it for energy transfered. Now looking at the Mak bullet from the side the front of the projectile has a round , hemisphere like profile. It would seem to me, that a fairly soft, lead projectile with a similar profile, round, at a similar velocity, should work
well, pretty similar, maybe a little better. .36 roundball.

I like the idea of using a mini cape.
Just pull out a small red cape sort of like a bull fighter uses and then let the BG try to guess which weapon is being held behind it.
What he doesn't know won't hurt him! ;)

hehe well i have my sword and daggers as well and at short ranges i consider them better than any gun.

how is that for romantic

now where is my V mask lol

You all proved it to me! Old C&B revolvers did their jobs well in the old days and would do it again if called upon to do it again.
Todays shooter thinks too much about a "One Shot Kill" and not enough about just stopping the agression. I always thought this was the primary reason for shooting an opponent. Who cares if it kills them? just stop the action against me!
The bad guys weren't any tougher back then than they are today and the fact is that NOONE wants to be shot! A bullet or ball can and will provide the necessary energy to end almost any situation. Granted there are some drug crazed individuals that a grenade wouldn't stop but chances are few that you will run into him and if you did, aparentlly God intended your end to be now...
Carry of a Percussion gun may be nostalgic and in comparison to todays state of the art semi-autos may be questionable in some folks eyes but just the decision to go out "heeled" is a big decision and one which should go with aforethought to a clear and present danger. The choice of weapon is a personal one and if you feel comfortable with the gun? If you feel comfortable with a Percussion, by all means use it! The choice if gun is your personal decision. People are going to question it anyway.

I've yet to see any clear explanation of what advantage one accrues over a more modern arm from use of a bp revo in one of these "BP is teh roxxors for teh slef-defenze!!!!11" threads.
Now that I think about it, in addition to the hat and sword, you should probably go ahead and affect a throaty voice and foreign accent as well. In for a penny, in for a pound.

Concealed? Hmmm,,,

Yes, I have carried it,, mostly in the woods.
However, I'm thinking concealed may be a problem without wearing a Duster, An article of clothing that could possibly make me stick out in a crowd here in Vermont. :scrutiny:

Sniderman ~ Great looking gun and holster. Who made your holster ~ I've been looking for something similar for my Walker.

No one here claims there is an advantage one way or the other. It has been stated that one should go with what one is familiar and confident in.
