This one is open to any and EVERY 22 caliber (as well as 17 and 20 caliber) rimfire rifle including 22 Mag, 17HMR, and 5mm Rem RF Mag. This match is meant to be challenging and FUN. Hopefully it will get you out to the range and shooting your rifle. If you have one handy, make sure an bring a friend too.

You may enter with multiple rifles.

There is Two Optics Divisions:
->25 yards for iron sights and non-magnified optics and red dots
->50 yards for any Scope or Magnified sighting device.
Please note the change in distance. We are back to yards!

There are Two Rifle Classes:
->Unlimited/Target Rifles (highly modified rifles, rests, target sights, high magnification optics- over 10x [in the appropriate division] may be used)
->Sporting Rifles (Includes All Non-Target Class Autoloaders, Bolt Actions, Single Shots, Pumps, & Lever Rifles)

Target Class can be shot from any position, Sporting Class is shot from any position without a rest or sandbags. When you are satisfied you've done your best post, or PM me a photo of your target to me for scoring with the following information. The Targets Will Be Included (or linked) Below...

Non Magnified Target: One shot per target. Break the outside ring for a point, completely inside the ring for two, and touch the center dot for three points.

Magnified Target: Three shots per bulls. Break the outside line for 1pt, the second line for 2, the third line for 3, and the center dot for 5 pts.

All submissions due before April 31st, 2010.

Please note a few changes. First the range has changed back to 25/50yds (NOT FEET). Secondly we have also discontinued the use of bipods (or any other support) for Sporting Class. These devices are still fine for Target Class.

Have fun! :)

Lights out looks kind of interesting. If we pick it or not I'll probably try it (based on the thick black line).

Edit: Too bad I won't be able to compete this time because our range is only 25 yards. We'll still try it @ 25 and let everyone know how we did.

You can still try the non-magnified target. It is @ 25yds. I think Lights-Out would be the better non-magnified target anyways. I was thinking that (if it is agreed upon to use it) we should make touching the bulb a hit, touching the black line a "safe zone" (no points deducted) and missing entirely a points deduction.

:)

My only concern is when shooting odd ball targets at 25 yds with iron sights sometimes they are very hard to see.
My opinion is its better to stick with targets that have black centers, although the lights out do have a fairly thick black outerline. Guess will just have to try them and see
Looking forward to this months match!!

We don't have to use either of those targets, just throwing them out there if there are no other suggestions.

:)

Lets wait till later tonight to decide. I am sure that some folks (especially those on the left coast) haven't gotten home from work yet. If nothing later we can give em' a whirl.

:)

My other .22LR has a broken ejector and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get (been trying for a year).
What is it? I may not know where to find one, but this is still a pretty decent place to ask. ;)

These are suggestions for the open sights targets:

Several targets here:

Some of them are pretty interesting:
The bear silhouette target (http://www.mytargets.com/target20.pdf) would have been interesting, but people around here are pretty good shooters and wouldn't have trouble racking up 18 head shots.

This one might work well with my aperture sights if I filled the middle sections in with red marker: http://www.mytargets.com/target22 circles x20.pdf we could do one point for a hit within the large circle and 2, 3, or 4 points for hitting the little circle.

These would probably work well too: http://www.targetz.com/targetzlib/20001.pdf http://www.targetz.com/targetzlib/20008.pdf

Mav, did you ever put up a score board for the March match?

I like the second one. You could say one shot for each circle. Hitting any part of the center black is worth so much and outside the black but inside the circle is worth another less amount

The gun is an old J.C Higgins Model 31. I've ordered 2 ejectors for it and they were both wrong (didn't exactly fit). Picked up another one off an old gun at a shop and it was wrong too.

We tried the stars target a while back and IIRC had a heck of a time seeing all the stars at 50yds, but I concur that the small bulls (target no. 2) looks good. Do you think it will be visible w/o magnification, or do you mean for use with magnification?

Mav, did you ever put up a score board for the March match?
Yep, it is up now. A buddy of mine was supposed to E-mail me a copy of one he worked up in Photoshop, but it never got here... :scrutiny: So I just used a makeshift scoreboard (any volunteers for making a new one?).

:)

No help here, but someone else might know where you can find the correct one. Best I can think to do is talk to a machinist, and see if he can modify the one that doesn't fit (or fabricate a new one).

I intended for the non-magnified. If you allow people to fill in the middle part with red marker, I think that they would be visible at 25 yards through aperture sights. The outer circle is about an inch in diameter which makes it the same size as the 20 ring from the March non-magnified target. I didn't have any trouble seeing the to ring once I filled it in. I doubt that anyone would be able to see the middle dot, its diameter is only about 3/16" (edit). But that's part of the challenge.:)

I would love to go to the range to test it, but given the holiday weekend I doubt that I'll have time.:(

Edit to add: The 30 point ring from the March non-magnified target is 1/2" which I was barely able to see at 25 yards and I have 20/20 vision out of my right eye.

We'll give it a shot, are there any recommendations for the magnified target? Perhaps the stars?

:)

Dookie, we could do three rounds per bulls, on the first one.

Anyone else have a recommendation or like any that were put forth earlier?

:)

Mav: This checkers target would be good for the 50 yard magnified. Seeing crosshairs on alternate white and black center targets is a challenge.

I also like the dot in circle you had earlier for the magnified and the billard balls would be easy to score.
