April Fools Rimfire Match:

Greetings, all. Here is a last minute entry shot today. CZ-452, Weaver 3-9 AO scope, SK Standard Plus ammo. 50 yds, benchrest off sandbags (Unlimited/Target class). Light wind, 8-10 mph, from 5 o’clock. So very good conditions, no excuses.

I’m submitting this as a 62. But whatever Mav says, goes. Target 4 is a close call. I might just add that the “white space” between the Bull and the first ring on this target measures about .210”. I just “miked” a 22 LR bullet at .224”. Mav has a tough job, but then again, the pay is soooo good. :D Oh, wait . . . .

Call it as you see it, Mav.

Thanks to all and looking forward to next month.

P51D

Now for new business...should we extend the match to two (2) months to promote participation or keep it a monthly match, or any other changes that you think would be beneficial? Also, lets see those new targets that you want to use for the next one.

:)

Right you are Orlando, thanks for the correction. Do you have a link to the target by any chance?

:)

Although we only got to shoot one time in April I still kind of like the monthly format. Gives everyone a fresh chance to post a good score. I can see how doing 12 of these a year would be harder on you than doing 6 so I would say you get the ultimate (well, of course you do <G>) say on how often they should change.

FWIW, we are going to be shooting tomorrow and there is no contest going on. I would like to suggest that we discuss the new target, etc a week before the current contest ends. It will feel like a wasted trip to the range since we have don't have a contest going on. I actually look forward to messing with the new targets each month.

Oh, one more suggestion. I find the months that we have targets that are easier to score are better contests. What I mean is, if I have to carry a calculator with me I get fed up and don't like adding up the scores. IMHO, targets with 10 different point values and not as fun as ones with 3 different point values.

rmcelwee, there is a new match...should be stickied (Art is really good about that) at the top. Unfortunately the targets were chosen, but feel free to suggest new ones at any time (just remind me sometime near the end of the match, or I will surely forget all about it). We will keep the monthly tradition as long as there is sufficient interest to maintain it. It isn't too much trouble at all to make a match a month, especially if it happens to fall on a weekend...yay!

Amen to that, and self-scoring is very much appreciated. Yawl only have to score one or two of em'...try 20 (on a good month). I don't know if you saw a match about 6-8mo. ago where I used a dart board with the appropriate scoring...and in a stroke of brilliance I believe that it was 10 shots per target. Now that was a nightmare! Yep, as much as I like darts and as interesting as it was, I don't believe we'll try that one again. ;)

Here is a link to the ongoing match for this month. If you shoot it tomorrow, you will likely be the first.

:)

Ah, I didn't even know that the matches were stickied <G>. I've only found them in the past from looking at the previous month's thread. You should be seeing some scores tomorrow...

Sounds great, I guess I should have mentioned that earlier. I guess I just figured that everyone found the match from the sticky. I should have known...no one looks "up there", I used to not, that is where they keep the old, decrepit stuff that can't hold it's own. :uhoh:

It is my fault I didn't see it. You guys won't believe this but I do not read THR.org. I originally found this thread through a link from rimfirecentral.com and have only been getting the new links from each month's thread. I've never read another post besides the monthly contest post which I have been reading/posting in since the New Years Eve 2009 match. I signed up last March but there was something on the site that my virus/spam software didn't like (as far as I remember) and I just stayed away until I followed the link in December.

Wow, didn't realize that, glad someone was looking out for me at Rimfire Central. Glad to have you on board too, your issue with the site may stem from when we were receiving denial of service attacks which really took a toll on the site at the time (if all else fails, shoot Justin a PM, and he may be able to help). Give it another shot and take some time to check out some of the other sub-forums here at THR when you get the chance. There are some great, knowledgeable folks here (and at Rimfire Central).

:)
