A loose barrel nut will affect precision.
No kiddin'As will loose optic mounts...wouldn’t be the first shooter to fail to check scope mount screws...
Just saying...
Didn't need to cut the FSP off.Sounds like he cut the front sight off, so don't think that will be an option.

I guess that you don’t know that PSA sell a premium line and that they have a lifetime warranty on all the parts they sell. Their premium BCGs and barrels are made by FN. Do we know who makes parts for BCM?I had a similar problem with a PSA. Turned out the PSA bolt, and BCG were out of spec. The BCG or bolt would hang up giving very erratic shots. I tried polishing it but had no luck. I replaced the bolt and BCG with BCM parts and groups tightened up nicely. There are a number of things that have to fit right for an AR to work. I used to think that cheap parts were the same as expensive parts. PSA cured me of that. I don't care how popular they are.

I have built guns from their standard parts and their premium parts and have never had any issues. My buddy built his first rifle with one of their Freedom kits. He ended up having feeding issues. He sent the upper back and they replaced the barrel, no more issues.
I called them and they would not do anything about it. I had problems with other out of spec parts from them too. They did not respond to requests for service. I don't know why I got junk and you didn't. Why someone else got good service and I did not. One of life's mysteries I guess. Meanwhile I will buy parts elsewhere.
I will say I was happy with the accuracy once the bugs were fixed and it was broken in. The barrel seems to be high quality. I should have stopped there.

Everything ive read listed on this thread will cause accuracy issues, no doubt. But most of it will be minor in comparison to the foot and a half at 100 this rifle is getting. Again...has anyone here actually seen a scoped rifle shoot 4 inches at 25 yards without something badly loose.
But d2..... was your bolt carrier causing accuracy as bad or similar to the ops. 4 inches at 25 yards scoped? Ive never experienced that and it's pertinent to the op.
If so then next time someone uses the search function about a similar issue they may find their answer.
I'm not bashing or taking up for any company. I have both, highest tier rifles And I have a couple Olympic and Anderson's (no psa but I won't say i never will). I'm only curious to what other things, beside loose optic and loose barrel can cause 4 inches at 25 yards. I have a retired gallery smoothbore winchester pump 22 that will do that good.

Nothing to add, just wanted to give you props for installing a $1100 scope on a <$300 rifle. I usually do the opposite.
True, but BCM tends to have better quality control. Everybody gets barrels and BCGs from the same guys but not everybody goes through the effort of making sure the components they get are made to their specifications and assembled properly.
There's a reason why brand A costs more than brand B.
It would be ironic if in cutting off the front sight the barrel because damaged.
Wait for a nice day to go shooting. I hate shooting in the cold.I was just trying to get the rifle on paper. Here it's been really cold or really windy or both on the days I have off.
HEAT. When cutting metal with a cutoff wheel you create heat. The faster you cut the more heat you create. I know that barrels get hot when you shoot but not in just one spot.I don't see how.
I used a 6 inch cut off wheel in a grinder.
The A frame didn't appear to be under any stress, it didn't pinch the wheel or spread when I made the first cut.
Not like I cold chiseled it off.
I'm pretty sure that would not be enough heat to distort a barrel sufficient to cause erratic accuracy.Wait for a nice day to go shooting. I hate shooting in the cold.

Maybe not, but I would have removed the sight tower before cutting it. Well, I would not have cut the sight tower. I just would have used a new gas block.I'm pretty sure that would not be enough heat to distort a barrel sufficient to cause erratic accuracy.
