Article: A Call for Black Vigilantism

Having listened to Dr. Williams on many occasions andI believe the inclusion of the term black is due to his intended audience. I have heard him discuss the failure of black leadership to help those they are supposed to be leading to make the progress that the vast majority of the coutry has. It is a good message, but one that was intended for a specific audience.

Concealed Carry.

Sounds like Philly needs concealed carry....if it is fully backed and not harrassed by the city government and police. Concealed carry and castle doctrine.

Sure looks like the police have frittered away their "brand" as a legitimate force for justice and order. Remember when the Philly police dropped a bomb on the MOVE folks and burned down the whole block? I'm not sure I would call them either.

Problems like this in Philadelphia, Boston, LA, NY, Detroit, Chicago have been a long time making. The citizens, the city government, the police, the feds, the school systems and the local religious leaders all have responsibility. Going to be hard/impossible to get cooperation to turn it all around. Radical moves like ENDING the drug war or permitting concealed carry would start to crack it, but I think probably we are going to go the other way.

I hope they give those volunteers nice T-shirts and Berets for their troubles.

I've had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Walt Williams several times back in my b'casting days. He is super and one of the most intelligent men I've ever met.

As TCB mentioned, "I believe the inclusion of the term black is due to his intended audience." Absolutely the context.

I do a "Neighborhood Patrol" several times a week, armed, at random times. There have been more than one occasion where I've called the SAPD when I've found theft going on. They (police) are happy for the help.

Crime here, in NE San Antonio, is going through the roof.

gthe nation of islam did a proud job where they patrolled ever see an unarmed man beat a man with a shotgun takes commitment and real nads. while in the strictest sense some of what happened was vigilanteism it was what was needed

could you provide a reference to this beating i lived in that part of town and missed the incident or any reports of it. i do know that i could safely go into that part of town again albeit i was asked by the guys what i was doing there i looked a lil outa place

I did a search and came up with a Time magazine article that briefly mentions the cameraman getting beaten.

thanks i remmber it now he got hit after they told him to back off stop filming he walked away. the guys apparently didn't want the beating of the dope dealer on tv.the thug with the shotgun got an olympic caliber beating after they disarmed him.was one of the ballsier moves i ever saw the same camera man got tape of them running him down and taking the gun away.
and they owned up to being wrong about the cameraman fast. kinda amusing thing is without the nation of islam there the cameraman wouldn't have been able to be there at all

If they can control the violence in an area that is fine, I have observed it attempted in other areas, but the bad guys are still winning the turf wars.

Problem: Special situations require special care.
If they can take back the city they have lost to the gangs it would be nice

The particular situation is one that the culture is very responsible for and it would be a good thing if they could right the problem But like the march on Washington, it will be short lived. To bad.
