Bare shelf at Wal-Mart

Totally normal for Wal-Mart here.
Now they have the normal quantity of the normal skimpy mix.
I reload.

Sounds like the WM here in town also, they never have more than 4 boxes of anything! Last year, they had 6 boxes of .300 Win mag, for over 6 months! I asked the guy why they bought so many of those? The next week they had 15 boxes of them, go figure. They always seem to have 15 -20 boxes of 9's, but only 1 or 2 of .38's, and plenty of .22's, they order like they sell Ski-Doos, they don't!

ammo missing

The government is purposely buying all the ammo they can to keep it out of our hands. I was listening to the radio a few days ago , and this was reported on.
I have no reason to doubt it, as it seems to be our elected officials agenda, to stop us from having the right to keep and bare arms. No ammo, our rifles become clubs. :banghead:

Well our local wally world seems to have a bit of stuff according to those that go there but the thing that has been missing there and at LGS in the area is .25 ACP. A buddy of mine cant find any locally but at one LGS and it is $31.00 a box of 50. Told him to get dies and save his brass. I'll teach him how to get around any shortages he may encounter.:)

Three or four WMs around here are always spotty when it comes to ammo.

I have enough supplies that it's gonna be a while before my weapns become clubs..LOL

Yep, my WalMart has mostly RCBS products/tools, Hornady bullets of numerous sizes/shapes, a half dozen powder types in 1# containers, CCI and Winchester primers, and a half dozen bags of new brass for sale.

Last time I was in Kansas I went to the local Ace Hardware & was astounded to see not only ammo but reloading supplies.

I think pigs will fly before we see loading supplies in Kalifornistan Walmarts. :(

In Nam I think it was like 12 billion rounds expended per casualty so I think we're all good at 450 mil. Just a thought. lol

Get dies & save brass? How ya gonna even FIND yer .25 brass?:what:

Kakarote, if that was the case then they would have contracted for more than one specific caliber and a whole lot more than just 450 mill. Those tinfoil hat radio shows always like to get people in a panic.

While it would be nice if my Walmart would sell reloading supplies, I doubt they'd beat my LGS prices, but my LGS is 18 miles away, so in a pinch, it might be handy.

Speaking of being out of something, my local Walmart has quite handling the 5 pack of kool aid mix they sold for .76. Now I'm forced to buy my grape addiction in the single packs at .20 a pop!

Here's a little know fact, 90% of Wal-Mart customers DO NOT SHOOT, they make more money on toliet paper than on ammo, management will not pay a decent rate for their people behind the counter in sporting goods that know a hoot about ammo or shooting, the sporting goods mgrs are the poorest trained personnel in the store and could care less about your shooting needs.

If you rely on Wal-mart for your shooting needs, you are in big trouble. A store here and there maybe different, but the company does not care.

Live with it.
Jim

The Walmart in Bullhead City, AZ. is routinely out of various ammo. I was told each store is alloted so much ammo and that's all they get. Seems around here the snow birds keep the ammo used up. Why this store can't get more when other stores are running over makes little sense to me and their management should make sure the product is available to meet the demand. Empty shelf space makes no profit.

I suppose that explains why I've seen armed DHS agents filling shopping carts full of ammo through Walmart, Cabelas, and all the local gun shops instead of placing an indefinte quantity bulk order straight from a factory... oh wait...

The company does profit projections based on square footage - if that space isn't making money, the items get replaced with something that does - matters not what department.

They have one of the most copied inventory/purchasing programs going and their IE folks, like those at Fedex and UPS, know how to squeeze every nickel of cost out of the equation and every dime of profit into it. If the ammo is short and always empty, someone needs to be reordering more and more frequently; however, they orders are mostly preprogrammed - all it takes is something out of the ordinary - an internet rumor or similar - to spike demand and upset the equation. They are pretty good about correcting it - at least here in Florida

I think a lot just depends on how sharp the local manager is and how much he keeps track of things.
We have one WM here in the county and the sporting goods including the gun section is usually kept pretty well stocked.
Guns, ammo, reloading supplies. One thing I notice is a limited variety of powders.
I don't buy much there though, preferring to do my business with one of the locally owned gun shops.

That was just me. We had qualifications the next day & I wanted to make sure I scored a perfect JOB score.

I don't know about that but you would know when they got more 40 in.

Was in the Lutz Fl Wal Mart and they had a full inventory of WWB .380, 9mm, 40 S&W and 45 ACP in 50 round and 100 round counts. The PDX HP's were scarce.

Federal and Tula in all pistol calibers was heavily stacked in 50 round boxes. Very good quantities of the Federal Hydra Shocks in all calibers.

No inventory for Federal A.E. 223 and Federal 100 Count .223. Plenty of Tula in .223 though.

Walmart sells reloading supplies?? Didn't know that. Never noticed. Might have to give 'em a call.
