Bear creek uppers

Ya know, If I'd made such an obviously clueless, blanket statement like that I'd expect to get called out over it too........... Oh and I own three, never had a problem with them........

I try to ignore Trolls
Which I have now ignored him
Honestly.. Fathers shouldn’t allow their 12 yo children on the computer.. in a adult discussion

Guys, calm down. We are talking about a bargain basement brand that builds mostly acceptable stuff. If you want perfection, pony up for the big names and be happy. If you want dirt cheap parts already assembled into something functional (or mostly), be glad that option exists. I'd hate to only have colt and Daniel defense as options...

I had a side charging upper receiver that was built into a 7mm Valkyrie. Never had a single issue with it and it was one of the most accurate uppers I've ever had.

I have a couple other of their uppers, both have run flawlessly. A couple years back on veterans day, they were giving away free barrels to Vets.

Got one and replaced the barrel on an old upper. Haven't had any issues with it.

Wouldn't have an issue with buying a barrel, upper receiver or complete assembly from them.

I bought a BCA 20" 6.5 Grendel upper from them years ago, no issues, great shooter and quality is on par with my PSA uppers. This was $40 cheaper than a comparable PSA 6,5 Grendel upper at the time.
I have read of issues with BCA but most seemed to be fixed quickly. For the price I think they're great value. And when the only complaint was accuracy BCA usually just replaced the barrel and took care of it. Seems to be above average customer service for the price.
I did check to see if everything on mine was torqued properly, it was.

I have a few uppers from them. They are definitely basic, but functional in my experience. I have had a couple of bad extractors on their bolts, and after a couple years use in the field the screws holding a hand guard worked loose. These are very minor issues to me, since I have parts and the minimal know how to fix it.

Accuracy is in general good, and a grendel upper from them is excellent.

The reality is that I generally would struggle to buy a barrel for what they charge for a whole upper when they are on sale. Since these things generally work well, I am content to deal with any issues that might arise. If you want something fancier, feel free to buy it for a lot more money from someone else.

I'm really tempted to get one of their Valkyrie barrels they have. The 20" 1 in 7 configuration is my preferred one and hard to find, most makers have the faster 1 in 6.5 twist in 18-20" barrels to stabilize the 90 SMKs.

So I rigged up my BCA 6.5 Grendel 18" upper to a CMP Unlimited Modern Military Rifle configuration and shot it in a local club 100 yd. CMP match today. I put it on an Aero Precision lower with a DelTon parts kit and an old Armalite NM trigger. I mounted a Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4 I had laying around and found a web sling. I probably put less than 15 rounds through it until today, just enough to get it sighted in.

Ammunition was reformed mixed 7.62x39 cases, Midway 120 HPBT factory seconds over 26.9 gr. TAC. Here's my 10 shot slow prone string:

Not too shabby for a $240 upper with econo ammo and an aging Indian. Needless to say I'm very happy with my purchase. Hats off to BCA!

I've had two BCA uppers in 5.56 now and they were both great shooters for the price. Only issue I had with either was one really didn't like cheap AE 55 gr ammo, would get 4 or 5 failure to feeds per mag, using different ammo (mostly LAX 55 gr reman and PMC 55 gr) I didn't have any issues.

I'm just waiting for them to make one in 6ARC

Just got a Bear Creek Arsenal Gen 2 branded side charging .22LR upper and after two hundred rounds it has been flawless ! It cycled subsonic CCI and Remington HP sub sonic , it shot CCI standard velocity and really like Mini mags , but I don't as they are not subsonic and supressed plinking is what I bought it for. The extractor cut is proper and does not penetrate into case area . Looks like they corrected that earlier problem and dialed the spring rates. The gun has a 4-14x Burris Fullield 2 with adj objective paralax and mill dots in a Weaver SPR mount . It is on an Aero Lower with a Giessele SSE trigger and Magpul CTR stock and on bags after 200 rounds and two cleanings The Remington HP 40 Subsonic ammo shot 50 yard 1.5" groups, CCI mini mags did better but no planning on using them as they crack a bit with a suppressor on.

It would be cool if they made a 24 inch upper in 223/556. I did get another 7.62x39 upper from them with a 18 barrel. Im going to get it to the range tomorrow. Along with my 16 inch upper. I put another scope on the 16 inch.

IMHO they're cooler in theory than in practice. With a 24" AR especially in 223/5.56 the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Im looking @ some suspiciously low priced 762x39 uppers @ Bear creeks website.

I agree.

Sometimes it helps to read the OP ... Good thing THR software update now flags OP with a diagonal "OP" banner over top left of profile avatar like below. 👍

I've always heard that Bear Creek was pure crap. But just before Covid shut down everything, I bought a BCA complete upper in 300 BO as a 5 year anniversary present for my kid. His wife said he'd been lusting after a 300BO but she couldn't find one anywhere.

Neither could I, so went to my favorite LGS and they had exactly one upper in stock. Bought it, mounted it on a Colt lower for testing, and it ran flawlessly. He put it on his Springfield , and it ran equally as well. I think it has a permanent home on that rifle.

So after all the hype and the barely concealed scorn from one of the LGS clerks with whom I've spent hours talking firearms, my experience has been nothing but positive.

I have one upper that came with a bca
Barrel that was slamming several cartridges per magazine into feed ramps until the vendor took it back and machined the feed ramps. I probably should have specced it with something different through the vendor but didn't know any better/pay enough attenrion. It works fine now but I probably would not roll the dice on another.

How is the extractor groove on your uppers? Are you getting any case bulges or ruptures at the extractor groove?

The reason I ask is that BCA had a big batch of 22LR barrels with extractor grooves that were cut too deep. And the big issue is that BCA was replacing barrels with the same bad extractor grooves. A few guys on Rimfire Central got 2 or 3 bad replacements.

No mine is cut correct, I am up to 1000 rounds now and going to clean it :) not one problem with the upper so far.
