So I've been loading my own 9mm (and other calibers) for about 4 years now and never was able to get them through a chronograph.

Until today.

I load my all my 9mm with 124gr berrys bullets with 5gr of power pistol.

Shot them through my g17 today through my brother in law's chronograph.

They came in at about 1085fps average. Good to know.

I shot them through my Ruger PCC and got up to 1290fps.

I really wanted to chrono my 308 loads for calculating accurate dope, but didn't have time today.

I think I need to buy one now!

Get a LabRadar chronograph. Virtually impossible to shoot.

A chronograph is a good piece of equipment to have on hand. Not entirely necessary, but a good source of aditiional data to fine tune your handloads.

I've had two chronographs expire from "lead poisoning" mostly due to operator error. Generally, it is not if you shoot the chronograph but when.

2 inexpensive camera tripods and a 10' piece of 3" PVC pipe. Place muzzle of firearm at one end, line up with chrono with the other end and no more KIA chronographs. If round touches the inside of the pipe, difference in velocity will be virtually 0%. Always wanted to do this and now I'm going to try it in the fall. Didn't see another place to put this idea.

Wonder if anybody has ever shoot a Labradar

I bought a PACT Model 1 XP many years ago. I like the fact the chrono works sit on the bench next to you while only the sensors are out in harms way. The sensors are inexpensive to replace and sold separately.

The Model 1 with the standard sky screen is only $129 retail but can be found online for less when on sale. It has been very reliable for many years.

I bought a chrono about 3 years into reloading. Even though I followed my Lee 2nd edition and various other load recipes without incident, I always wondered what my fps numbers were. This became especially true when I started shooting snubbies. I'm always coming across new recipes and find the chrono to be a valuable tool. I did shoot one of the sunsceen arms once. It was more of a graze than a dead on shot. Put a nice little bend in the arm which I quickly straightened out.

Obviously the lab radar is a wonderful piece of gear but the outlay difference is quite large. A good middle ground is a magnitospeed but for pistol that's kind of a nonoption. I can't see a new loader taking the leap to the Lab radar but at least it would be easy to resell if it's not needed.

And confirm the magic bullet theory in the November, 1963 Dallas shooting incident.
If they had a LabRadar back then, the fedboys would be in big trouble….. lol…. ok, I’ll stop with the carcano model 38 theories … lol

I use my Magnetospeed on pistols all the time. But, you have to buy a $25 adapter and the pistol has to have a pic rail.
