Big bores with modest recoil?

I actually really like the 10mm.....from a 3lb RockIsland longslide 1911A2

I also really like my gp100 in .44 special, I run loads on the hot side, but it's heavy enough it's not uncomfortable.

And I enjoy my SBH running full power magnum loads. I'll happily shoot that all day. I do have a mid-range load using Longshot that delivers about 1200fps with a 240. That ones a pussy cat, but still delivers a pretty significant oomph.

I had an Xd45 tac, and it was smooth and low recoil, till I started to hot rod it ...then it was kinda miserable.
I really like the eaa Witness .40s I've got as well

Well if you're interesting in REALLY BIG Bores try a 480 Ruger, factory loads aren't that unpleasant to shoot there brewer12345.

Man, I hate seeing pictures of Ruger SR series pistols!

With just some Slight tweets (mag disconnect & LCI) the SR series, in my opinion, would have been the most successful semi auto Ruger ever.

Why, Ruger, Why?
I agree. I sort of felt the same about the P345. The mag disconnect safety really dogged that gun.

Not sure if it were mentioned, but the 480 Ruger is kinda designed to be a super magnum without the recoil of a super magnum.

Kind of a wildcard, but I figured I'd drop it in there
It’s like the .44 Special to the .475 Linebaugh...which is a super magnum with super recoil!

Stay safe.

I have a 1990s vintage Marlin 1894 CB 24" in 45 Colt. The recoil sensation is basically nil. It is extremely accurate with lead 250gr flat nose bullets out to 50 yards, like clover leaf. I use the starting load in the Lyman manual with Win 231 and a 250LFN, velocity is in the low 1000s, like 1015fps average.

Might be out of OPs price range but 50gi is the biggest bore vs smallest recoil I can think of. Very very soft shooting.

Ruger Super Redhawk in .45 Colt with standard mainstream commercial loads.

Of course you could buy one in .454 Casull and shoot standard .45 Colts. Redhawk only .45 Colt Loads and .454 Casull when you wanted to feel the thunder.

If you like something more compact the Ruger Alaskan Snubbje in .454 Casull is a nice piece and a softie with standard .45 Colt loads. With it's lighter weight it will definitely get your attention with .454 loads.

I really like shooting .45 too. Semi wad cutters make really big holes that I can see from the firing line at 25 yards. When I'm out shooting for the sheer joy of it, my go to setup is a 1911 with a reduced power firing pin spring and a recoil spring that works well with my load which is a 200gr lead semi wad cutter over 4.5 to 5gr of Accurate No. 2. I've done a 1000 rounds in a day with this sweet shooting setup.

More like the 480 Ruger is the 44 Mag to the 445 Super Mag, the 480 Ruger should never be considered a "Special" level of cartridge, it's a honest magnum on par with the other magnums.;)
