Nope. The lock has to be "approved" for the specific make and model of the gun that you are buying. If you don't buy it at the same time you pickup your gun, you have to have purchased an approved lock within the last 30 days with an original receipt that shows the model # of the lock you bought. The receipt goes to the FFL.
If you don't want to keep buying locks, you can buy a gun safe. Again, it has to be approved by the DOJ. Thing is, you just need to sign an affadavit stating that you do own an approved gun safe, and this also goes to the FFL. Wether or not the DOJ can inspect your house to check the safe is unknown to me.
