Can anyone identify this carbine?

Armalon carbine manufactured in London. I have actually visited the shop and spoken to the manufacturer, Peter Sarony.

I am utterly baffled as to why anyone would think that's a Ruger!

Looks like an experimental Australian version of the Jungle Carbine (it was never adopted) got crossed with the De Lisle .45 silenced SMLE variant.

I suspect that it is intended to provide a compact, legal arm for some UK needs, where modern pistols are banned.

It's more because of the semi-auto centerfire ban. I would much rather have a Kel-Tec S2000 or a Marlin Camp Carbine.
Sarony's rifles are quality builds, there's no doubt...however I couldn't visualise any application of a bolt action 9mm, .45 or .357 with iron sights aside from having an interesting toy to play with (which arguably would be a good investment also).
However he does make a very nice scoped .30 carbine which would be nice for casual bench shooting with a suppressor.
The problem with that one is the club will not permit us to shoot that calibre currently (there is some technical issue with the wording of the range specs and they can't afford falling foul of a police inspection, as the range sits partly in a residential area).

But the .30 carbine was nice.

A guy in our club has one. I've shot it - it's a neat little gun and, as Odd Job says, a quality piece. There's quite an active shooting scene over here for pistol calibre rifles but lever actions, mostly Marlins, are much more suited to the courses of fire we use. what you have is an enfield number 4 that has been converted to 9mm, looks like it uses beretta mags. the conversion uses a much shorter barrel than the number 4 has so the handguard and foregrip were cut and since a 8 inch spike bayonet looks goofy as hell on a 16 inch barrel the bayonet lug was not reattached.

whodunnit? no clue but that's what it is.
