I think you'll enjoy that PRH

Premier made some changes in July of this year to the Heritage scopes. The clicks are now more positive (0.1 mil clicks) and there's a direction indicator on the parallax knob. Those are the ones that I know of.

Honestly I don't believe either was a big deal on the original, though mine is a "more tactile click" version (without which I could see a problem).

:)

The wind was absolute murder today blowing every which way between the firing line and the target. I also handicapped myself by having a freshly cleaned bore and brass that was on it's FL resize cycle.

But excuses aside I think I did rather well despite the deceptively difficult nature of the challenge set fourth.

SCORE 31 with one X

Guys, you're confusing me here. I thought the scoring was 0 for a miss, 1 for the black and 3 for the white. What's this "2" I keep seeing?

No biggie ... and still good shooting (jerkface too!). What most participating members here are discovering is that this match is tough. As I've been saying on this forum for a number of years, hitting EXACTLY what you're aiming at is considerably more difficult than it looks.

Great shooting guys! Glad to see more shooters out there!;)

jerkface11, looking at your target, I come up with 24-1X, but your the one with it in front of you. I most definately need to get back out, and do something about getting smoked here!!:D

The one you're reading as an X actually hits the black. And a couple of the ones that are just in the black look like misses. the grease ring from the bullet does touch the black though.

Not only is it tough but being so challenging it's also quite addictive. I'm already planning and scheming for my next attack.

BTW 1858 what rifle did you use for your submission?

I know what you mean. I'm heading back out on Saturday with my new scope. I used a Premier Reticles Heritage 3-15x50mm but now will try a PRH 5-25x56mm to see if the extra magnification helps. Also, the AICS stock is flat on the bottom so for the front rest attempt, I'm going to remove the leather bag that currently resides there and sit the stock on a level surface. I won't be happy until I shoot a 45-0X.

As for my rifle, I used a Rem 700 action, Krieger barrel (25"), AICS stock, CG X-Treme trigger, AI bipod, TUBB firing pin and spring, PT&G bolt ... just the run-of-the-mill, off the shelf rifle that I use for F-Class. The load was a 178gr A-MAX, 44.2gr of Reloder 15, CCI 200 primers and Lapua brass at around 2,650 fps.

I think I need to practice my reading before I practice my shooting. I thought there were 2 categories, one for sights and one for scopes. I'm shooting in the morning and I'll bring a target, if I can see the dots I'll shoot and pray.

My teenage daughter and I went to the range today. The temperature was in the 40s with a slight breeze. Even though I knew that this internet match was geared towards factory type rifles, I wanted to see how my daughter would do with her rifle. I was impressed with the results. Her score was 45-7X.
Her gun is chambered in 243 Ackley Improved shooting the Sierra 107gr HPBT. Scope is a Leupold 8.5-25.

9X23WIN, that's some excellent shooting there. Where's your target? :D What does your daughter use that rifle for? F-Class Open, Benchrest etc?

1858, I didn't shoot at all today because I didn't have time to load for my gun. All her ammo was loaded this morning and as soon as I was done, we headed straight to the range. She mostly shoots the club matches now because I don't shoot competitively anymore. A few years ago, she was probably one of the youngest ever to compete in the FCSA 1000 yard match. I'm really proud of her! ;)

I would be too! I often wish I had a daughter to be proud of. :( I'll be back out this Sunday to try again, and like I said, I'll settle for 45-0X ... as Clint once said, "a man's got to know his limitations".

Iam2taz, thanks for the nice comment. I told my daughter to follow this thread (she's not a member here.) I might give this a try next week, but I know her score will be a tough act to follow. :uhoh:

9X23WIN,
Thats remarkable shooting!! Hope you get more Xs than she did!:p

Tell her great job! And good luck to you!

Postman should bring me my Timney trigger today for the Mosin 91/30 I plan on using for this match. Even the Finn trigger I have on it now has a bit too much creep to suit me anymore. I 've turned in some pretty good groups with it, but this one is going to be much more challenging than just shooting groups - :D

Got a couple hundred 7.62X54R loaded up with my target ammo (174 grain .311 Sierra Match King FMJBT over 40.0 grains of Hodgdon Varget). It's turned in a .393" 5 shot group at 100 yards, so we'll see how she does over a foam block with rear sandbag next week sometime on our 100 yard indoor range here in Wichita.

That is some awesome shooting. I'd wouldn't be embarrassed to say I got my butt whooped by that girl. Congrats to her for the shooting and you for teaching her!

Tried it again and did worse!

28 degrees, calm wind, standard front and rear bag. 223 AI again.
