Charles Daly Wants to Hear From You!

All of our CDD rifles will be shipping in about 2-3 weeks. We had some delays but all is proceeding now. We are in the homestretch of our first production.

I bought a CD Field EFS about 4 or 5 years ago and I couldn't have more pleased.
I took some ribbing by the local gun snobs because it wasn't a k!mb3r.
But it has always fired when I pulled the trigger.
I took my qualification for my concealed handgun permit with that pistol.
I've purchased a few handguns in the past years since I bought my "Chuck" but I still like to get it out and shoot.
I give my experience with Charles Daly an A+, the Fld EFS is a good pistol.

If you could make a cheap "hi-point" style 9mm carbine that would take cheap surplus UZI mags and wasn't butt ugly I think you could make a ton of cash.

Charles Daly will honor all warranties on its products even if that product is discontinued.
Mr. Kassnar,

I just bought a second hand CD 1911. I've yet to fire the gun due to my work schedule however I broke it down and cleaned it when I got it home. It appears in good shape and the only alteration done was my installation of Hogue grips.

Is the Lifetime Warrantee still in effect?

Samuel Adams, technically the Lifetime Repair Policy would not be in effect for your handgun. Our Lifetime Repair Policy only extends to the original owner of a gun.

We understand that the only thing done by you to the gun was the installation of after-market grips. However, you have no way of knowing what the previous owner might have done.

Having said all of that, if you ever do have a problem with your pistol, please contact us. We do "bend over backwards" for the customer and will do our best to keep you happy with your CD.

Mr. Kassnar,

On your current website you have 17 1911 models listed but there are only 8 on the California Drop test roster.

Are you planning to add more guns to the roster, stay the same or reduce the number of guns on the roster?

Thank you.

Warren, The number of our handguns certified for sale in California is dropping, primarily because Armscor has discontinued so many models. And as of today, I can tell you that we will not be adding any new guns to the list. (We are working on some new 1911's but since they will not have a magazine safety disconnect, they will not be salable in CA.)

Our company will never use micro-stamping technology.

Sorry, but we think it's only a matter of time before CA is succesful in stopping all handgun sales in the state.

Daly Website Re-design finally launched!

We are pleased to announce that after many, many months of development, and delays, our website re-design is finally up and running. See: http://www.CharlesDaly.com. Though there is nothing earth shaking about what we've done, the site should now be much easier to navigate. Also, technical specs are easily seen now by clicking on the item number in the item tables at the bottom of each product page.

Please bear with us as I'm sure there are still some bugs to be worked out, but we couldn't delay any longer. Any kudos or criticisms, and all comments will be appreciated.

This is a really huge thread so I haven't had a chance to read it all yet but so far I don't think anybody has asked my question...

Any chance of ever importing some stuff from Zastava? I'd like to see an M57 imported on an adjustable rear sight instead of an add on safety. 7.62x25 pistols are popular, the ammo is cheap and that M57 is and would be one of the best you can get.

Mr. Kassnar, I have one of your 12ga. semi-auto synthetic shotguns and really like it. I do not hunt upland game much anymore and have thought about a shot gun for personal protection. I would really like to modify this gun for that use but I don't believe you sell barrels (18.5 inch for example) or magazine extentions. I can not even find a model like this on the website. Are there any plans in the future for these products?

Mr. Kassnar,

Thank you for the response and I fear you are right about California's direction.

And I second dcar-roll's idea for an HD shotgun. Only I would like to see it in a 20 ga. youth model.

Warren

wow I have never looked at you'r pistols but after reading some of this forum a new low cost 1911 may be in my future.

Great job Mr. Kassnar on the web site - good detail on the click to expand picture function. Any stainless steel versions of the 5"?

Mike, I don't know about other manufacturers, but I DO know that Ruger doesn't care if I am the original owner or the 15th....they'll still do warranty work at NO CHARGE, including shipping.
THAT is a Lifetime Repair Policy.....yours is NOT.

Wow, as the president of a major firearms company he probably didn't realize that helpful prime tidbit of information. Yep, I was real proud of ol' Bill for that warranty as he was throwing gun-owners under the bus to be feasted upon by the wolves... Read up on some of the latest Ruger QC issues. "...but I DO know that Ruger doesn't care..." See, I agree with part of your statement.

Daughter's Hyundai has a ten year bumper to bumper warranty. Our Lexus has a five year. I'll speak to her about trading the Sonata for the LS...

Mike, thank you for being proactive.

Mr. Kassnar:

I have been lurking through this thread for awhile and after reading the conflict between you and justce, I have a few comments which I hope you may respond.

First of all, from what I'm assuming after what was posted, I believe that you're actions in that situation were absolutely reasonable. However, I have a few qualms with your company's ethics toward RTI. Not only is it against Open Source Policy, it is not very wise in marketing to restrict people from distributing your image. The drawbacks are slim compared to the potential good it could do for your company. If you spend all that money to take attractive pictures, don't you want them all over the internet for potential buyers to see? Many people on these forums post reviews, and many modify the pictures from the website including myself. Don't shoot yourself in the foot!

This type of logic is also depicted with the roll mark on your products. "Maybe if we make the name big and obnoxious enough, people can see it and remember it at the range!" No, its a big anchor anesthetically. The idea is to create a logo that "sticks", like colt's prancing pony or beretta's trident. A great idea was already mentioned in this thread: try throwing a contest or something for the public to create a design! Make a poll for which design is the best, many other companies in other industries have done this too.

Another idea that many companies are following suit is that consumers could submit ideas/products that they want to buy. After that, choose which ideas are feasible and give a poll to gauge demand. Instead of analyzing the market base and throwing a product out hoping it will succeed, you will have a rough estimation on how it will do.

Anyhow, feel free to respond if its not much of a burden. Thanks

zachsm, Thank you for your comments.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is "RTI"?

My reason for going after the website that used our image without our permission was not so much that they had used it, but that they had photoshopped the Charles Daly name out of the image.

We are flattered when people want to use our images, indeed, we would encourage the use of them. But we think that it is not right to use one of our images and then take out our trademark. Further, this photo was used as the premier image on that site's homepage without any attribution to Charles Daly. That is also not "kosher" in my book.

As to our rollmarks, I would agree with you that they could be toned down a bit. You will be seeing more of the "CD" oval mark in the future on many of our products.

We have been using various methods to determine which products to build and what features to build them with. None of these methods includes "...throwing a product out hoping it will succeed...". It is certainly much more complex than that, even if it might not appear to be so to an observer. For example, a recent thread I started on ar15.com resulted in us building an AR model with exactly the specifications that users told us they wanted.

Thanks again for your comments, we do appreciate the feedback.

I just wanted to update the board (and mike) on the $314 CD semi-auto I bought at Wal-Mart. I went out into the woods the first few days I had it and ran 500 rounds through it just for kicks. No stoppages at all. I then went and shot 8 rounds of skeet and was a pleasure to shoot. Now I must admit that I have bought a Benelli is this time frame as well, but my CD is by far the best value. The Benelli has a better fit and finish, but I do not hit any more clays with it and neither seem to want to have a stoppage.

Looking at my Benelli might be fun, but my CD is going to be my "go to" shotgun from here on out. Now it is on to the CD 1911.
