Certainly Fr. Pfleger has offered Absolution to a murderer or two during his tenure as a priest
Man, if you got the power to do that, then maybe you got the power to order their 'snuffing.':what:
Sister Mary Elephant's
Look out....you're showing your age!
(Young man, give me that knife.....thank you.")

Why is it that the most religious of folks tend to be the biggest jackasses.
Hey, watch it! I'm very religious....and I'm just a LITTLE jackass!

Next time anybody tells me that Christianity is the religion of turning the other cheek I will know they are lying.
I may get reprimanded for this.....but...'he started it, dad!'
First of all, this 'priest' does NOT represent Christianity that is taught between the first page of Matthew and the last page of Revelation (the New Testament.) He is trying to impress us with his own distorted view of self-righteousness.
Secondly, I don't see what this has to do with 'turning the other cheek.'
That was a principle Christ taught concerning how to respond to others when they insult you. It has nothing to do with being passive, or letting people beat the snott out of you. What was being implied was the backhanded slap across the face (cheek), which in the Semetic culture was an insult. He wasn't talking about getting punched in the nose. The idea was to be hard to provoke....be different...level headed.
Turning the other cheek IS a principle within Christianity. Just because a professing 'Christian' doesn't do it does not change the essence of what the Founder taught. Sadly, there is a huge body of those who claim Christianity, but have no clue what Christ Himself said or taught.....and they don't care.

Now.....you may hit me.

It's the logical outcome (Pfleger's bizzare comments) that has grown out of the Daleyville use of Chuck's as a scapegoat. The city sued, they've marched on his shop in the past, etc.

"Hey Fader, what yoose want to do 'dis weekend--ya wanna go kick Chuck around bit over by dere?"

And not to defend in any way their actions, but Chuck's isn't the best poster child for the kind of gun shop you want to go and window shop at. It's always been like a little bunker. Maybe some flower boxes out front? Maybe find a way to reach out and hug Jesse. He doesn't care really--find a way to let him be your pal. Let his posse have some free range time.

This priest is indicative of all Christians like Cho Seung-Hui is indicative of all gun owners. Still want to blame Christianity for this priest's attitude?

Moderators,

Please edit out religion bashing in individual posts rather than close the thread.

This thread has become very interesting and will stay relevant as the situation with this Pfleger further unfolds.

Neo-Luddite,

It's the logical outcome (Pfleger's bizzare comments) that has grown out of the Daleyville use of Chuck's as a scapegoat. The city sued, they've marched on his shop in the past, etc.

I agree that Chuck's has become a scapegoat for the city of Chicago to blame their crime problems on. This is much like Mayor Bloomberg blaming the problems in NY on gunstores in places like Virginia. However, anti-gun folks never have facts or statistics to back up their claims that a particular gunstore or area is responsible for their crime. The Daily Southtown paper illustrates how Jesse Jackson vilifies Chuck's based on nothing but Jackson's own speculation:

http://www.dailysouthtown.com/news/4...71NWS2.article

Jackson has said in person and in prepared remarks that Chuck's sold the "majority of guns connected with recent shooting deaths in Chicago."

But pressed on his sources, Jackson admitted to the Southtown after the rally that he does not have statistics on the store.

"The police know -- everyone knows -- they get guns from here," he said.

Fr. Pfleger's "Armorbearers"

The Armorbearers Ministry consists of a group of God-called men who are responsible for protecting the anointing and the pastoral mantle that rests upon Reverend Michael L. Pfleger. This is accomplished through consistent prayer, fasting and personal assistance. The Armorbearers share an individual and collective desire to lay down their lives for the life of another, namely Pastor Pfleger. These men assist Pastor Pfleger on Sundays and also travel with him extensively throughout the year. The Armorbearers are also responsible for receiving and accommodating all guests of Pastor Pfleger, whether speaking or visiting. The term, "armorbearer" first appears in the bible in the Book of Judges, however, the characteristics, attributes and role of the God-called Armorbearer is described specifically in 1 Samuel with young King David as the primary role model. Substantial emphasis is placed on being "called" by God to this ministry due to the seriousness of the role of Armorbearer. The new member is expected to successfully complete a supervised three-month observation period along with a curriculum-based teaching series designed to prepare the new member for effective service. Foundational Scripture: "Greater love has no one than this, that lay down his life for his friend(s)." John 15:13;

NIVMinistry Expectation: Completion of the New Believers New Members series and the Leadership Development Training is a requirement for leadership and a request for members.

Ministry Meetings: The Ministry meets monthly. The meetings are closed.

Ministry Membership Contact: Ministry Team Leader.

ZEN21TAO--The Daily Southtown has been anti RKBA for decades. There is probably a shread of truth that straw purchases have occurred at Chuck's. It is the only gun shop where I have ever been asked in the parking lot to make an ammo purchase for some sketchy characters who 'lost their FOID card'. This was in 1990 when I was 19 years old. But that is going to be true of any high-volume gun shop. I've never heard that Chuck's ever engaged in unlawful deals or anything. I mean--way back in the day--they used to let the boy scouts use their range (probably not anymore). There are horrible racist undercurrents to this whole thing and, being from that area, and having been a school teacher in the local district--the whole mess makes me feel rotten inside.

Wonder which God he is serving?

I thought love and tolerance were part of being a "BIG CHRISTIAN"......

perhaps I was wrong, again.

First Elvis, Anna Nichole Smith and now Jerry Fallwell....the great one are going.....but where?

Perhaps I am wrong about HEAVEN but I know there is a hell and our troops are in it now.

Hi Folks: Some people are doing more than bashing Catholicism/Christianity.

SAF Wants Minister Investigated for Threats Against Gun Dealer

Category : PressRelease

BELLEVUE, Wash., May 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Second Amendment Foundation is asking the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate a Chicago priest for threatening to "snuff" suburban Riverdale firearms retailer John Riggio during an anti-gun protest rally Saturday, May 26, near Chuck's Gun Shop.

SAF founder Alan Gottlieb is sending a letter to Assistant U.S. Attorney General Wan Kim, head of the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, asking that the agency also investigate the Rev. Michael Pfleger for essentially encouraging a crowd of about 200 protesters to drive Riggio out of business. The gun shop has been in business for more than 30 years, and Riggio is the second-generation owner.

In a stunning audio recording of Pfleger's remarks, the pastor of St. Sabina's Church can clearly be heard stating, "John Riggio ... we are going to find you and snuff you out." Moments later, Pfleger added, "We are going to snuff out John Riggio, we are going to snuff out legislators that are voting ... against our gun laws and we are coming for you because we are not going to sit idly."

"It is common knowledge that the term 'snuff' is street slang, in Chicago and elsewhere, for killing someone," Gottlieb said after hearing the recording. "If John Riggio, or I, or any other gun owner were to make that kind of public statement in reference to Rev. Pfleger, you can bet the authorities in Chicago, and the local and national press, would want us behind bars.

"We are asking for a Justice Department investigation," he explained, "because Rev. Pfleger incited his audience to take whatever action is necessary to put Mr. Riggio out of business. Chuck's Gun Shop is a legal business, operating under both state and federal laws, and Mr. Riggio has a legal right to operate such a business.

"We simply can't rely on the notoriously anti-gun Cook County prosecutor's office for an unbiased inquiry," Gottlieb said. "There is no doubt in my mind that Rev. Pfleger's threats should be investigated. You cannot hide behind the color of political rhetoric or a clergyman's robe when you publicly declare that someone ought to be harmed and deprived of his civil rights and livelihood."

The Second Amendment Foundation is the nation's oldest and largest tax- exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 600,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.

OMG, We better be aware of new potential terrorists:

Anti gun zealots.
This priest would probably condone suicide bombings of gun shops and other places. Be on the lookout and report any suspicious activities at gun shows and other events to authorities. Domestic terrorism might not neccesarily mean jihadists, it can take the shape of the Unabomber or many other things.
