If you want the Colt, get the Colt. If it's not a pressing need, don't settle for your second choice. Anyway, Colts aren't that hard to find.
There's something to be said for having a common manual of arms (ie, go with the P220 to complement your P226) but there's also something to be said for having a gun that offers a different shooting experience (ie, go with the 1911 because it isn't a SIG.) Personally, I like having a variety of handguns, which is why I don't have two of anything (well, except a couple of Soviet Nagant revolvers) but one each of several different types.
