Can't you fire small rifle primers through a pellet gun?

Why would you want to do something like that.

YES small pistol primers can be launched from a .177 rifle or pistol. makes for a great animal deterrent and it is fun when used in the proper manner to scare a friend or two (from a distance).

There are a number of places here in the US that have bans on air (BB) guns. Even slingshots.

Banning guns simply don't work ... never has, never will. Criminals don't care about laws, that's why they are criminals.

Guns can be home built from scratch or by some off the wall conversions, either is risky as the "gun" may do more harm to the user than the target.

In my generation ... fellas made 'em in shop class (zip guns bieng the most popular name). Of course if they got caught they had some problems coming their way. But hey ... 30+ guys in a shop class with one teacher ... more got out than caught.

Me ... I made a crossbow out of the small leaf spring from a Nash Cosmopolitan and consulted with the shop teacher on the best material for the bolts and the heat treating levels for those bolts. Man that sucker had some power. It'd put a bolt through a concrete block. Got an "A" on that project. My dad on the other hand was less than thrilled. He complemented me on the work. But he pointed out the down side of "over penetration", both relative to hunting as well as general safety. He made a rack for it, hung it on the wall and made the standing rule that I didn't take it out without his knowing it.

The point of the preceding ramble? With even marginal skills you can make a lethal weapon. Be that weapon a gun, a bow, or whatever ... and they can make up all the laws in the universe about not having them and they will still be around. Mostly in the hands of those people that would do harm to you and yours.

When I was young and stupid I drilled out the barrel of a 25 cal blank gun. Dropped a 1/4" diameter ball bearing down the barrel and fired. The ball bearing went in one side of those metal sheds and out the other. After about fifty shots the barrel split right in front of the cylinder. Where this a will theres a way.

I am sure things of this nature are ideal for criminals or people in countries where firearms ownership is either banned, or highly regulated.

Four young soldiers from Fort Bliss, Texas, are in El Paso jail on felony charges after shooting up a guy with a BB pistol. When the civilian authorities are finished with them, the Army will want to have a word with the boys.

BB guns brought onto an Army installation must be registered with the MPs--and are subject to the same restrictions as--regular firearms.

Here's one of mine:

The gun in the article however, probably wasn’t a BB gun but more likely a CO2 powered air pistol which has a rotary magazine which holds 8 x .177 pellets and can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger – not life threatening but is powerful enough to embed the pellet under the skin or worse blind you.

The guns are replicas of famous pistols like 1911, Walther CP88 and CP99, Desert Eagle, Berretta FS92, Smith & Wesson Revolver and a few others. They are made of metal, quite realistic looking and can fire approx 70 – 80 pellets from one CO2 bulb and are quite accurate to 25 yards.

Fearing for his life and bleeding heavily, Mr Egwuatu raced away in his car and found somewhere safe to call for help.

Lemme give y'all a translation of how this would look had this happened in America.

"Seething mad at having small pellets lodged in his skin, Mr. Egwuatu, a large African man, proceed to leap from his vehicle, beat the skinhead without mercy, and insert the CO2 pistol in the rectum of his assailant."

The news media are idiots.

The British are idiots.

The British news media are total and complete idiots.

The potentially lethal weapons are often converted by criminals to fire real bullets, and can be bought easily in high-street shops and on websites.
Not true, nowadays anything that is a 'realistic imitation firearm' needs a special (read as: unobtainable) permit to buy. So unless it was bright orange or he's had it for years, it was illegally purchased.

there was some artic researchers a while back that were taking electronic paintball guns & making select fire open bolt 22lr's out of them. at the research station they had a full machine shop, lots of spare time & no gun laws.
