"custom!"

Chicharrones;

As long as this fierce debate is defining the meanings of words, I'd like to ask a question. Does the meaning of artisanal have any relation to anti-sanal?

 900F

:) Yeah, his asking price is higher than the market will probably bear. In which case he won't sell it.

The value of leaving him negative feedback is probably pretty slight. He'll figure out soon enough whether his price is good by whether he finds a buyer. If he wants to sell soon, he'll lower the price.

They say everything's for sale for a price. I can see putting stuff up for sale just to see if someone wants it more than you do.

I do the same thing with work. I really don't want to go through the hassle to go far out of town to do a job and deal with travel costs and grumpy crews. If you want us to work on your job 500 miles away, we WILL, but it's going to be at such a high price that it offsets the discomfort of the extra hassle. "That price is ridiculous!!!"? Don't get mad that the price is high. We don't owe you the work and we aren't forcing you to hire us. If you really, really want us to do it, fine, make it super worth our while to do so.

Same basic idea. That guy might be asking a little much for his Glock, but he's not in desperate need to sell it. If you happen to really like the extras, that price might be acceptable to you. I'd certainly say it has been customized. But it isn't a factory custom gun...whatever that might mean to folks.
I think its a lot more than a little higher. And that 900 Firm trade value is preposterous. The only thing that he added in that package that is worth anything is the CT laser, which he hasn't elaborated on which model. They're around 200 bucks though depending on the mode,. and used market.. 150 at best.

Mind you, the only Glock I have any interest in is one that's for sale for under 300 bucks... so I can trade it into something cool. So I have no skin in this game... I just wonder what goes through people's heads with their guns. There are literally 0 special glocks out there. When you add up all the stuff its like 700 bucks worth of stuff... None of it required a gunsmith to install. Any dummy with a small punch and access to youtube (even thats a strech) can do all of that work.

The big reason why it bugs me is because that guy will bump that ad everyday. Even he knows his price is dookie, given his last statement.

Words, words, words. Ultimately, what difference does a word make? As the OP finally figured out, it's all about marketing.

I don't fool myself that my Kimbers marked "Kimber Custom Shop," my Colt marked "Colt Custom" or even my 1911s worked on by the Springfield Armory and Colt Custom Shops are truly "custom."

My Wilson? Yeah ... ordered pretty much from packages in a what's basically a catalog. Is it truly custom? When presumably thousands of other guys have essentially the same features on their Wilsons?

My truck has "custom" rims, tires and a lift package ... Is it truly custom?

Who really cares?

jim, i see your mind will never be changed.
doesn't matter to me, because i'm happy with my custom gun n will never sell it for any price. it saved my life

send that burris back right now. i doubt it can be fixed.
my 4moa dot is a perfect circle. that's what you paid for.
i would never have recommended a burris if mine wasn't perfect.
i'm sorry for your problem.
mine not only sights fine, it holds zero even after falling to the ground twice.
insist they send you a good one.
or just get a refund. for that money you shouldn't need to spend time on it.

I already called them. Lol, the rep blamed my eyes! :) Which is comical to me, as I have 20/10 vision in both eyes (better than perfect!) :) He said to send it in though. So thats good at least. We'll see. It seems like they have good customer service.

i'm sorry for the extra hassle. i really thot you'd love it.
i was sure you'd have fun, because i never shot so good in my life.
i guess i better not recommend stuff any more.
i feel really bad.

now you've got me nervous about suggesting flashlights in the other thread...

lord, it's iffy. before i bot the fast fire, i read a zillion reviews.
they were positive.
then i had a great experience myself.
it never occurred to me jim would have problems.

It only bothers me when I'll be on Gun Broker looking for that cool vintage rifle and I'll see something like "Custom Military Tactical Sniper Rifle SKS" listed for $800 and I'll look in their and see a bubba'd up worn out chicom SKS with all manner of the cheapest accesories one can imagine, finished off with a cracked and peeling duracoat job.

Now some "custom" guns that have been customized by the end user, are really... really nice. But, usually, they're nicest to the ones who've done the work... and less so to others. ;)

cool, you're right. i installed the fast fire because i couldn't hit anything without it, but most people get along fine with iron sights.
my improvements are for me, not for increasing value.
i'd probably take a loss if i wanted to sell.
i walk around smug because i got my custom gun.
i'm moving my teeny targets out to 25 yards, which is amazing for someone with my skill level.
i'm good with a rifle but new to handguns.

jim, please keep us informed about what happens.
i really want you to get a good one.
what moa dot did you get?i only know about the 4moa.
