I was window shopping at Buds Gunshop the other day and to my surprise they had a Dan Wesson DWX available. Not only did they have one available but you could pick your own serial number. There's about a dozen serial numbers to choose from and like the good CZ fanboy that I am I bought one. It hasn't arrived at the LGS yet but I can wait about 5 more days after waiting several years for these to arrive.

i finally saw one in my lgs 2 weeks ago. i was already thinking of getting a 629 competitor and then i saw the dwx. i backed off on purchasing any gun and mulling over it. i haven't been back there yet to see if it is still there. the owner of the lgs said he sold 3 of them over the past 2 weeks.

If they were optic ready, I think they'd sell a lot more. Have seen more Atlas and Stacctato pistols fly off the shelf faster, heck they have yet to sell a DWX full size at my local shop. The compact DWX went quickly, but people still seem to want something a little nicer.

I really want one but I've already got 2 CZ's a P-01 6 and a SP-01 Tactical. And 12 1911's in 5 calibers, including 3 double stacks.
My EDC is a Wilson Combat EDC X9 Experior with 18 round magazines.

Yeah, I'll probably get one anyways sooner or later.

Thinking Out Loud???? lol

We can’t get a DWX here in the Peoples Republik, they aren’t on the senseless “It’s Kosher” list as decreed by the State DOJ.

I like the blending of the 1911 and CZ-75, two of my favorite pistols. If the DWX were available, I think I would run down and buy one toot sweet!

Stay safe.

I'll buy the DWX Compact when they start making them with a tapered dustcover, no front-cocking serrations, and actual front-strap checkering (like that on the full-size DWX).

Or, I guess I could just spend another grand and get the Wilson version.

$2K is too rich for my blood. Maybe if I were an active competition shooter. I remember when they were first announced... I really liked the idea and wanted one. After I bought a double stack 9mm 1911 my interest in the DWX waned.

Funny I had the exact opposite response after getting my DWX, and after getting that 2011 it was reinforced.

I would still love to have a DWX, I just am not willing to pay for one. I am not a competition shooter but need an edge on my buddies when we are at the dueling tree. My 2011 gives me the extra ammo capacity so that I am not constantly doing mag swaps for my 7 round 1911 while they are blasting away with their Glocks. If they decide to up the arms race though, I might have to respond in kind!

😜

P.S. I picked up my RIA double stack used for $450 and it came with a .22 TCM barrel. I haven't tried .22 TCM at the dueling tree yet... I will save it and pull out the .22 TCM if I find I need more of an edge. Really, it is just friendly competition... :fire:

Those budget double stack 1911’s don’t compare to the DWX. Not even close in my opinion
