A form or gun records
In the UK if you have a firearm, even if its an antique, and you wish to shoot it, it must be registered on a Firearms Certificate - registered with the police -at a cost of course. I have over 40 modern guns and antique repros, together with a number of muzzle loading antiques, such as single shot percussion and flintlocks, pocket revolvers and Reminngtons, pepperboxes, saloon and zimmer pistols etc. To keep track of the ones I shoot, and the ones I don't, I have a page per pistol loose leaf folder with the following info on each sheet:
Name and Class of pistol, Picture, Reasonable desription, Proof Marks, Police Certificate Registration - with serial number where appropriate, Reference for antiques in der Neue Stockel, Dimensions - bore, barrel length, load, ball size, patch size etc, Value - where bought and for how much - and estimated current value, Condition = good, poor, state of blueing, repairs needed etc, and finally a graphics picture of the normal target it is shot on - and the aiming point with a picture of the sights.
This info is of great value when you pick up a pistol to take down the range and shoot it for the first ime in a couple of years.
