EOTech giving owners full refund for holographic sights

I sent mine in today. They would not give over $399.00 for it. Great deal for me. I never had trouble with it but I am done with the whole concept of the'newer type of optical sights'. I have hunted for a lot of years with scopes and a low powered scope is fast for me and unless I smash it they are trouble free forever. I just put a leupold 2 x7 (9 oz) on one of my ar 15 and love it. Open sights for anything under a 100 yds is also fine. I realize I am opinionated.

It seems weird to me that most people on this thread seemed satisfied with the product other than battery life but still returned it. I don't own one but tried one on a 50 Beowulf this weekend and liked the small dot.

I do agree that the claims eotech made were not realistic. I think the civilian sales were a drop in the bucket compared to military issue. Would be interesting to know % returned and reasoning other than easy way to get your money back on a product without support down the road.

Again, I drank the Cool-Aid, and bought mine for use on a stand-by HD Carbine.

But the battery's were dead every time I picked it up again.

Turned OFF in the gun case.

Electronic sights that depend on battery's should NOT suck the life out of them TURNED OFF, for the life of the battery's still in the factory package!!

I loved mine, except I was unable to trust it would work if I had to grab it and use it in the middle of the night.

Which was what I bought it for.

So no matter how much I liked it?
It never could do what they advertised it to do.

Exactly what rcmodel said. The first time I picked up the rifle and the battery was dead, I thought I screwed up or had a bad battery. I made double sure it was turned off when I put the gun back in the safe. Next time, same results! Got so I'd remove the battery when I put the rifle away.

I'm glad to hear the checks are heading out. I don't know how L3 is going to survive this. I think they only thought it would be mostly the military and LE customers would be sending them back as they were removed from our approved optics lists. Instead it blew up on all the forums and A LOT of people sent them back. Just hope I get my check to offset the cost of the Aimpoint I picked up for work.

Except for battery life, I liked the EOtech sights.

I bought mine for use on a home defense rifle. A dead battery does not do one much good and it takes too long to install the battery pack in an emergency.

I got my refund a week or so ago.

The battery life was less than 25% of what they advertised. That made the sight need new batteries nearly every time it came out of the safe. So yeah other than that I was satisfied with it.

L3 is a huge corporation, they'll just write off the loss on their tax return.

I'm pretty sure they were being proactive in this to head off Class Action Lawsuits...you really can't be sued to force you to do something you're already doing

I guess once again I'm just lucky, as I've had an EoTech for almost a year on the same batteries, and haven't needed to replace them. I also haven't noticed the shift, and I live in AZ.

Still debating about returning it, although the reports of people actually getting refunds are encouraging.

The batteries in my 517 lasted well enough. Up to a year with lithiums installed. The non-lithiums would go dead faster, as would be expected. If it wasn't for my 517 going dim, I'm sure I would have kept it.

I sure didn't win the lottery by getting my refund. The money covered trying another red dot, spending gas and tolls to return that, then buying a new scope, a new mount, and a new rear sight to fit under the scope.

I think I broke even, and I thank EOTech for making it possible.

it's been a week since the last post- no other refunds received? RC? I sent mine in the same time roughly as you and received the confirmation email about the same time as well

Sent mine in Mid December. Called eotech and they told me it was approved and is in line to get reimbursed. Told me if I don't get the check in 3 weeks to call them back.

Did they stop sending out emails when they get the sight in? They got mine on the third of February and I still haven't gotten an email.

I don't know what they stopped doing??

But they must have stopped sending out refund checks after waiting 2 months and 2 weeks after they received mine!!

I sent mine in Dec. 17, and it will be 3 months next week!

I sent mine in Dec. 28, got an acknowledgement email Jan. 15, and so far it's been radio silence. Maybe they're using the same outfit that's supposed to be processing the Remington Black Friday ammo rebates. I sent that one in on Nov. 28 and still have nothing to show for it...

1-888-952-9092

Call this number to make sure they got your unit if you have not heard from them. I got UPS notification that they received it but nothing from Eotech. dsk over on 1911 forums could not get a verification that they got his, so he called this number and they still couldn't find it but issued a refund anyway. I forgot to call today but will call tomorrow.

It's been 45 days since EOTech received my return, so I emailed them. The response I received is below:

Refund requests that have been returned can now be tracked thru our refund call center.

Please call 1 888 EOTHOLO
Option 3 in the sub menu
1 for the refund call center

I called this number, gave my name/address/phone/email, and they confirmed that my check went out on 3/11. It's likely to arrive this week, so I'd say their return process is running fairly smoothly considering the volume of requests.

Thanks for the number. I just called it and gave my name, address, phone, and email. The representative was able to look everything up and said that my last two checks were mailed out last Friday.

I originally sent in three sights. I received the check for the first sight about a month ago. The other two sights were mailed in about a week after I mailed in my first sight, but I suspect by that point, more and more people had mailed their sights in. My point is that although you mailed in a sight a week after your first sight, it does not mean that your checks will roll in one week apart.

EOTech is a good company and I think that they are handling the sight refunds very professionally and politely. Once all of this refund stuff passes, I would love to hear how many refunds they processed. It has to be a ridiculous number.

Same here.
Thanks for the telephone number Das Capitolin!!

I called this afternoon.

Sight was sent in Dec 17.
They said my refund was mailed last Friday, March 11.

So, it's taking just about three months for the check to show up in the mail tomorrow, the 15th.

Getting a little pissed off here...USPS shows arrival at their facility 1/15, no contact, no check. Emailed about a month ago and never got a response.

Guess I will not be using this money to buy another EoTech...
