"Ghost guns"....great. Another made up nonsense term that will do nothing but obscure the real reasons behind something &infringe more and more on the lives of the wrong people.

As members of the supporters of the 2nd amendment - we should nip this term in the bud before it has a chance to become part of the public vocabulary - such as "gun violence" has done.

Even if it goes nowhere - it will have introduced another derogatory term which is associated with firearms.

Its not going anywhere, and it sounds like rage and spite.

Here is a note to the plaintiffs, life is dangerous, so take precautions.
I did, its called a gun.

Right on!
Hate and Rage combined with Shaming makes for puke in political mouths.
The emotions poured into politics on this last cycle is stupendous, and never made for reasonable arguments, laws or procedure.

Here in Alaska they recommend stamping them with "Made in Alaska" and a serial number, but I dont think thats mandatory, but like some sorta Alaska law thats to protect homemade weapons.

No registrations, just follow Fed laws and enjoy!

I gotta look that law up later.

ATF Raids Polymer80's Office Claiming Company Is Illegally Selling Guns (ammoland.com)

"The target of the raid centers around the company’s “Buy Build Shoot Kit,” which includes a slide, barrel, parts, the jigs, drill bits, and an 80% frame. The end-user would still need to mill out the frame to turn it into a working firearm. The ATF claims that because of the way the company sells the kits that these packages constitute firearms, and Polymer80 needs to serialize the frame."
It begins. This is so obviously a flagrant abuse of their “power”. It’s NOT a firearm, but they say it is, so it is?! Emperors clothing.

Here is a good read concerning homemade firearms and selling them.

https://www.criminaldefenselawyer.c...ll-or-give-my-homemade-gun-another-person.htm

As stated by others. As long as the intent was to build a firearm for personal use then you later decide to sell it, you can and no serial number or other markings are required. The ATF does suggest that you do mark the firearm but does not require it.

Now if you make homemade firearms, to include 80% receivers/frames, with the intent to sell them you are now considered an unlicensed dealer. And yes some states have outright banned 80% receivers and other states still allow them but require them to have a serial number. As always check your state laws.

And the raid on Polymer 80 was a fishing trip, The 80% frame that ships with the BBS kits is no different than any other 80% frame that P80 makes/sells.

Just quit calling it “80%”. Call it something else. Its just a hunk of metal anyway.

One of the arguments is that some kits advertise being able to complete to an entire gun. Then such kits, not going through an FFL, are going to prohibited persons. A Fed I know (who is all progun, conservative, etc.) says they are seeing such kits becoming crime guns.

Is that a reasonable point? I leave it to flame war.

You have a valid point.

My counter point is this.

What is the difference in buying the Polymer 80 Buy Build Shoot kit with all the parts included versus buy a frame, parts kits, barrel and slide separately from one place and it ships to you in one single box?
There is no difference. Either way you still have to complete the frame before you can even install any of the lower parts. And it is not as easy as the media is making to to actually finish one either. Most kits DO require the builder to hand fit both the front and rear rails before the rails will even fit into the frame and function.

And it is still not illegal to make your own firearms for your own personal use as long as you can legally posses firearms.

Now the criminals that are found in possession of firearms need to actually be prosecuted to the fullest extend and locked up. Why go after the law abiding citizens that want to make their own perfectly legal firearm at home.

Exactly. The use of something in a crime is not the metric to use. If that’s the case, make motor vehicles illegal, yada yada. Criminals will make guns anyway if they want. They will do whatever they want. Period. Laws won’t stop them, hence the term “criminal”. Such kits becoming “crime guns” does not matter one iota. “Kit” or no “kit”, they will make them if they want to. I can get a barrel blank and some aluminum and call it a “kit”.

That has been pointed out. Buy the parts separately. That's why some folks think the law will come down on the receivers, even if 80%, has being 'firearms' and will have to go through a FFL.

The reason my liberal state of Delaware wants to ban them is right here in this article. Not a single polymer 80 has ever been used here in a crime. But when you keep letting violent felons back on the street this is what happens. And our super liberal pos Attorney General and Governor need a scapegoat for their own FAILED policies.

So if someone sells you a block of aluminum and a CAD program for milling a receiver, is it now a firearm? This is such bullcrap.

Exactly. This kind of nonsense leads to the banning of knowledge and information. Back to the Dark Ages.

A guy on U_TUBE says the ATF took the shipping lists from this company & is raiding the homes of buyers & taking all the gun parts of these kits

I knew it was a dangerous precedent to allow the Remington lawsuit to proceed. Down the frivolous lawsuit rabbit hole we go.
