I was poking around and found it on SGammo. Velocity is listed at 1130 ft per sec. Just curious if anyone has tried it out. I've wanted 10mm HSTs for awhile now.
I usually load my own 10mm with 200g XTP over 12.4 of Accu#9.
Federal offers the HST as a reloading component? And there is a 200 gr 10mm?
Federal announced the new 200 gr HST 10mm load at this years SHOT, I believe.
Full power ammo (10mm included but not just 10mm) is often seen as a liability to ammo makers, at least those who are pumping out millions of rounds. Literally nothing they offer to the public is full power no matter the caliber. Boutique makers (DT, Underwood, etc) can get by loading things 110% to serve that niche segment of ammo purchasers, much of them 10mm guys wanting 110%.
A little off topic, but just my personal observation from over a decade of using 10mm... published velocities seem a bit overblown in the 10mm world... especially from the boutique brands. The Double Tap 200g XTP [controlled expansion] and 200g FMJ-FP loads I have tested "only" did an avg. of ~1110fps from a 4.6" G20 barrel. Of course, elevation and lower temps may have played some role in that. I averaged ~1120 from my 200g XTP over 12.4g Accu#9 handloads [slightly faster than the DT] on the same days/location.
I think the 200g @ 1200 fps notion came from much longer and/or specialized test barrels. Even with my 6" LW hunting barrel, the DT load does not get to 1200 fps... about 1170-ish. I'm using an F1 Shooting Chrony, which has been reliable/consistent with many cartridges, and I have never seen a 200g 10mm bullet, from any manufacturer, actually hit 1200 fps in my G20 [4.6" or 6" barrel]. https://rangehot.com/original-10mm-ammo-made-ffv-norma-ab-·s-670-40-amotfors-sweden/
There is an interesting take on it below... either way... I still love the 10mm and even at "only" 1100-1150 fps, it is still plenty powerful.

That was my take on it too. With a 200 grain bullet, a little more moderate velocity is probably not that big of a deal. The mass is going to make up for it.Honestly, 50-100fps isn't going to make a difference either way.

Factory loads may come up a bit short of advertised velocity, often do in many chamberings. But well in excess of 1,200 FPS with a 200 gr. pill is not a problem for the cartridge, and as much as 1,400 FPS with 180s from a 5" tube.
It is a shame mainstream manufactures can't get on the band wagon. .
What does that have to do with 10mm or this offering from Federal? With a full sized .45 auto you can easily get over 1200 fps with a 200 grain bullet in .45 super loading..

Yep, I really want to get my hands on some of these. I’d like to chronograph a few and see how they match up to published velocities. If they are close they may be my new carry load. Thanks for posting! I didn't know that Federal released an HST for the 10mm. I shoot my own 145gr SWC or 175gr TCs, but I do like more options and I have a lot of respect for HST.
