Federal has different versions of Low Recoil Buckshot - many are not Flite-Control rounds.

Unless you are quite specific, the "Federal Reduced Recoil 00 buck" you ask for may not be the "Federal Reduced Recoil 00 buck" you want.

Yes they are worth it.

The Federal Flitecontrol 00 either low recoil or full power is the current state of the art in buckshot ammunition.

Birdshot is for birds.

Nice choice of a shotgun, Propforce! The Buckshot rounds are a decent price for that load, Practice all you want with birdshot, but pattern your HD round and know how it shoots.

Putting cost over safety..........don`t get it.

Guys,

I appreciate this self-righteous indignation of "money is no object when it comes to my life". I am sure none of your guns cost less than $1,000 and none of your ammo cost less than $1 per round. You all drive Volvo cause it's the safest car and auto fatalities are higher than gun deaths. If you are not doing all those then please take your self righteousness elsewhere because you're just another hypocrite. I was simply asking what is adequate for home defense shotgun shells. Many other posters have offer good advices here without being insulting. For those I thank them sincerely. But for posters like you, I don't understand why we need to be insulting & combative on these boards? Is this not the High Road?

The truth is in the middle...your life is worth the $20 for premium SD ammo...but it isn't needed either in this case. Lesser cost buck works just fine for HD as the range is so short. A better analogy would be someone wanting to cheap out on handgun ammo, there is a huge performance gap between cheap handgun HPs and premium HPs.

I like the reduced recoil buckshot shells, it's certainly plenty for any use I can think of around the place. I also like the featherlight loads for birdshot.

OT but my local WalMart had Remington 2-3/4 00 Buck 9 pellets (not reduced) shells for $3.00 for 15 rd. value pack, reduced from $11.97.

$0.20 / rd. for buckshot shells seemed a very good price to me?
