Looking to buy a 32 acp for plinking fun. Whats your top choices with the ability to find accessories like spare mags, which would be very high on the list. Please feel free to post some pictures of you're favorites.

I know they're a lot of older guns out there that I have never heard of or seen.

WALTHER PP 7.65mm pistols. LOTSA used police guns out there and a lot cheaper than the 380 pistols. All I"ve ever had shot up a storm to boot.

BUT this would not be my favorite. THAT would be a BERETTA M100 6" 7.65 target pistol that'll shoot regular ol' 32ACP ball into groups well under 1" at 25 yards. It is a tackdriver. I have two magazines for it and have NEVER seen another for sale.

Have an old gub style 32 auto loader that I carried for several yrs. Liked it but have gone to a harder hitting round. Why not get a 22 for plinking. Cheap, accurate, and still lots of fun. We go plinking often with them and have lots of fun. You should have seen a snake trying to cross a pond at a gathering a few yrs back. Had about a dozen shooters making life miserable for the no neck critter.

I love the feel of the CZ-83 and I think it comes in both .380 and .32 ACP. If I were looking for a larger .32 I think I'd consider one of them.
Having said that, .32 ACP ammo isn't as cheap as .22LR. That's what I prefer for plinking. Aluminum cans don't know the difference.

Around here, its usually more expensive than 9mm so unless you've already got a quantity of .32ACP ammo squirreled away from back whan about all ammo was about half what it is now, I'd not really consider in a very good plinking caliber.

I think the OP is aware of the .32acp vs .22lr price gap, guys.

I wouldn't buy a gun to be a "toy" except in .22lr (well, maybe .22wmr) ... but I am also aware that some peoples' "toy" budgets are different than mine.

Yeah, I have more 22's than I can shake a stick at. Always on the look out for a 22 mag,one of my favorite rounds. Never owed a 32 acp or 380 and of the two i think I'd like to own a 32 acp. May or may not reload for it I guess it depends on how much I like them.

I never really gave it a second thought but all of a sudden, I want one. I know a little about the 1903 Colt but it will be hard to come by local. The rest I know nothing about. Thanks for any help. I want something for range and plinking, no little tiny pocket toys.

.32 is expenisve for plinking,
a .22 is the way to go
there are a number of guns that use .32, but I enjoy the caliber for the history and variety

OH, if you can find one cheap, a spanish 'ruby' type .32 are a joy to shoot, kinda the Browning design, simplified.

I would recommend a PPK or CZ 83.

I wonder how long till someone starts bashing the round on the account of stopping power.

Walther PP or an FN 1922
Both are easy to obtain magazines which are still fairly inexpensive and spare parts are abundent.
I also have a CZ83 .32.
These guns aren't all that common and I had to order my spare magazines through CZ-USA who then ordered them from Czech Republic.
It took about ten weeks to get them.
Spare parts and repairs are still offered through CZ-USA however. HTH

Just another vote for teh Walther PP - I have 2 and love them. .32 is my favorite caliber as well.

Hmmm. My list of .32 ACP range toys runs like this:

Colt 1903
Browning 1910/1955
H&R Self-Loader
Savage 1907
Savage 1917
Mauser Hsc
Walther PP

Of those, magazines can be hard to come by. There are aftermarket mags available for most, or originals priced at a premium, but I have a couple of originals for each so that's enough for me.

I like the old guns, but there are drawbacks, even as a range toy. Most have less than stellar sights, ergonomics designed for people smaller on average than today, and difficulty in finding accessories. Still, I like the aesthetics and history of them, the craftsmanship, the almost unique presence they have.

Don't know anything about newer ones, but there are still a couple of classics that are on my list that I haven't managed to buy yet:

Beretta 1934
FN 1922

From what I've read, both of those sound pretty interesting to me, though I'd prefer commercial variants over the seemingly more common wartime versions.

My all-time favorite .32 is the Mauser HSc. Old-time "pocket pistol" that has been eclipsed by the tiny .32s like Kel-Tec, and the compact 9mms that are now the same size.

Still a fun gun to shoot. Wish I still had mine. :(

CZ83
Walther PP
Sig P230
Beretta 81
Bersa Thunder (used to come in .32acp)
Beretta Puma (or similar model...lots made over 60 years)

I don't care about weak load I just want one.

I know, just saying that in wonder of when those that think you're looking for a CCW piece walk in. I forgot about the 1903, that's a nice gun as well.

Mags
Promag 10rounders, usually the ones for the KTP32 are the cheapest, work great in MOST upright mags, those with a more forward angle, I think you can get PP mags, usually have to do some dremil work, but $15ish and some sticking out VS $120 for OME Stock mag....

My choices will be (in not particular order):

For new ones:
CZ 83
SIG-Sauer P232
Beretta 81
Walther PPK/S

For old ones:
Beretta 70
Beretta 35
Bernardelli 60 (you can see it with a lot of different features and barrel lenghts but it is hard to find)
SIG-Sauer P230
Walther PP
Walther PPK
Mauser HSc
