This gun started out as a plain jane Colt 70 series reproduction. It was sent to Don Williams for some custom work. It is my favorite 1911 because it was built to my spec working with one of my favorite gunsmiths to work with. Don is a master craftsman and a joy to work with. It is everything I wanted and nothing I didn't. It has lots of amazined details that make it beautiful to look at and at the same time more practical. It is a true bespoke custom. It is not an off the shelf semi custom or even a custom build off a build sheet. Mr. Williams and I talked a lot about the gun and what was going to go into it. I have very happy with the results. There area lot of other 45s in the safe but this one now has a special place above all the others.

Old Dog

Of course, I do have a favorite NON-1911 .45 ACP -- and of course, it's still an original (West German SIG P-220, the first, and still the king of DA/SA .45s!)

Have to agree with you on that only mine was the Browning BDA .45 version. Well built, extremely reliable, and with the same ammo, able to go head to head with a Colt Gold Cup in the accuracy department!

There’s been a lot of interesting discussions about new guns coming out. Lots of fun stuff has been discussed, and a load of serious stuff too.

So let’s just have a little fun here. Post a picture of your favorite 45 ACP, whatever it happens to be. No bashing please. Good natured ribbing and genuine drooling only.

I have three currently but this is my favorite. It’s a Dan Wesson Classic Commander Bobtail. It fits me wonderfully and my hands wrap around it very securely. It shoots straight, it has night sights. The action is smooth, and the trigger is crisp. I like the short barrel too as it feels much more compact for carry to me. I also think it looks great without from cocking serrations, even though they don’t bother me on other guns I own.

What’s your favorite and why?
I've been pining for a Classic Commander Bobtail for years.

Looks fantastic!

MCB, what rig is that and how do you like it? I'm picking up my 625-2 today and the holster set ups aren't easy to find. Thx

The holster is an old Blade-Tech, unfortunately I don't think they are making N-frame holsters anymore. The moonclip holder is from a North Mountain Moonclip holder. I bought it from the guy that made them in person at the USPSA Area 8 match many moons ago. But you can get the latest version from here: http://4wheelguns.com/Moon Clip Holder.html The belt is just a cheap 2-inch belt from Cheaper than Dirt that velcros over my standard liner belt.

I'm not an impulse buyer, but when it was under glass at my LGS I asked to see it, and after thirty seconds I asked to put it on layaway. That wouldn't be too bad, but I had picked up a DW 38-Pointman about a month earlier. :uhoh:

If you can round up the cash, I don't think you'd regret it.
