I'm with you on the Dan Wesson love. Valor V-Bob:

They've discontinued the Valor line, so if anybody wants one, hurry!

Grabagun has new Valors in 9mm. I don't know if we'll see any more in 45, but I'm hoping!

The Valor has returned for 2020 with some changes. Things like a Stan Chen SI mag well have been added.

VBOB is also back.

Many .45s have come and gone from many brands. Three remain as my never-sell favorites.

1) Stainless VBOB (I don’t have a photo).... it shoots great and is 100% reliable.
2) Wilson ULC Commander.... so light, accurate and reliable. I carry it often.
3) Alchemy Prime Elite.... Rob got it right. Period. Since I bought it, I’ve sold off Wilsons, Baers, and a Springfield Pro. This thing is like butter.

Back in 2001, I upended my wallet to the tune of $1100 and bought my Kimber Pro Eclipse II... our honeymoon continues to this day. It was a buttload of money for me at the time, but the decision to buy it vs buying a stock pistol and modifying it, was a sound one and I don't regret it. I'll have to give credit where credit is due... my brother told me I was stupid if I didn't buy it, peer pressure being what it is.

The Pro Eclipse II on top...

The Kimber was a result of owning first a gen-u-wine Colt Government 1911, and then a Springfield. The Colt, while beautiful, was not assembled well, and the Springy had some ejection issues (it had a tendency to throw empties at my forehead. I have a burn mark in my right eyebrow from a case stuck between my shooting glasses and my head.) The Colt was long gone by this time, and I had agreed to sell my Springy to my brother... which may have been why he insisted I buy the Kimber.

Although a 1911 is a 1911, there is something special I felt when I picked up that Kimber. I followed up with the Pro Carry II a few years ago, and while an excellent pistol in it's own right, it isn't quite the same as the Eclipse.

There is probably only one .45 that would change my mind about my favorite .45 pistol... that would be one of those carbon blued 1911 Colts that came out a few years ago. Given the limited availability of those... and the corresponding price tag... I think the Kimber is pretty safe, however.

1916 vintage UK surplus. Now has modern cylinder and barrel. Will shoot 45 ACP with moon clips, 45 Win Mag (loaded to 45 Colt Specs) in moon clips, 45 Auto Rim, and 45 Colt.
Put the old timer away and carry this one most of the time now.

For fun and frolic, you need a Model of 1950 45ACP with a spare cylinder for 45 Colt.
LOVE that Roscoe!

I like my 1911's, but right now my favorite .45 is my Glock 30SF. I just finished 2000 rounds with very little cleaning and it ran 100%. It was supposed to be no cleaning, but my son accidentally wiped down the slide, barrel and frame. Any ways, it shot great the entire time and never bobbled. It is the right size for carrying, accurate and surprisingly easy to shoot. I have pretty big hands and the 10 round magazines make it a good fit for my hand.

I've owned a number of high-end 1911s with all the bells and whistles over the years , but when push comes to shove, I'm gonna have to say that this original (fully stock, down to the collett bushing) is my favorite of all time.

This is what I want. Same here, had all the bells and doo dads in various 1911s. Just want the plain colt.

I don't have a pic, but its my G21.

Every so often I drag my Gen 4 21 out to the range in lieu of one of my 1911s and am always amazed at how smooth and soft of a shooter it is. It's the one that shifted me from a Glock Hater to Glock enthusiast
