Hi Webbj0219,

This is not a howitzer (I'm not sure my girlfriend would like to see that in her garden :cuss:)

Browning M2HB .50 BMG (selective fire )

@ ByAnyMeans

Ka'boom's home defense guns :

SIG P228 & Remington 870

and, why not ...

Regards.
Ka'boom

I just realized this is a two year old thread someone pulled up. I'm glad though because I'm so impressed at the LEGALLY owned firepower "across the pond".

To my fellow Americans: Am I the only one sitting here with my jaw hanging open? I mean.....this guy (Ka'boom) not only has a legal & functional "Ma-Duce" (WITH AA mount)......but a legal & functional MG-42!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ka'boom, your collection rates very high on the cool factor.

Russ

Ka'boom:

That is one well defended home for sure. I figure with a .50cal in the garden you probably don't get to many trying to gain entry!

You can find the Flash Hider Cone and also a Muzzle Brake for the US-M1 at www.keepshooting.com

The muzzle brake :

(I ask myself why a muzzle brake for the US-M1... there is no recoil on this this beautiful little carbine )
Regards.

I believe it was originally intended for the M-2, a selective fire variant of the M-1 Carbine that came out at the end of WW2. I don't believe it saw use in the european theater, and not much in the Pacific if any, but it was used in the Korean War.
I have an M-1 and a muzzle brake. You're right, for a semi auto it isn't really much use, except maybe to look "cool" and be a guard against damage to the muzzle. But It was moderatly useful on the full auto carbine from what I understand. Maybe about as much as the Cutt Compensator was for the Thompson SMG ... which was also debatable.

but it was used in the Korean War
And Vietnam. A good friend of mine (and a THR member) carried an M2 as a radio operator in Vietnam. His had the stock cut off, and he carried it in a homemade holster (I've seen pictures of it). When he didn't have the radio, he carried an M16.

Sorry called it a howitzer, I was thinking it was some kinda mortar launcher at first glance till I saw the ammo box on the side. And then I was aw man that things probably fully automatic. Still very cool. Not as big as a howitzer, sorry for the confusion.

I definetely wouldnt want to be on the wrong end of that garden party.

I am very happy to see what our brothers abroad have. I had always heard that gun control was rampant across the world and we were the only lucky ones. Very nice men-thank you and keep the pictures coming.

The major "gun control" problem we have in Europe is the fact that we (mostly) don't have the right to carry our handguns for self defence. In that aspect the US is light years ahead of us Europeans :( (I'm glad for you guys over there, though ;) )

America + France = friends

Being French doesn't mean I do not have a weapon and I hate the USA. I have many weapons and I love the USA.

FX -

Many Americans are well aware that without the aid of France, our revolution may have failed. And without Napolean's willingness to sell the Louisiana Territory to Thomas Jefferson, America would be a much smaller nation and Western movies wouldn't have been so popular. Heck, John Wayne might have never become an actor. ;)

UK Shooter, very nice shotgun. I love my Mossberg 500. I also have the heat shield but go with a top folding stock, love the compensator. Go with a nice easy to see front bead dot sight and you have a great home defense shotgun. What is the clamp looking thing on their.

The clamp looking thing on the magazine tube? Thats for the bayonet :D Its a Mossberg 590 :)

I took it out to shoot some sporting clays the other day and even without a bead site I was doing pretty good with it. As long as it was relatively close targets (its cylinder bore)

Got to love a bayonet, thought it was the 500 model. Would love to see the looks of people at the range with you using a 590 for clays.

Thanks for posting JohnnyMac and Radium, where you guys from?

Don't forget to mention where you are in the world. Seeing all these fantastic gun collections is great but to make this thread work we also need to know where in the world these collection are located.

I don't care if this thread started 2 years ago, it's one of the best ones here. Thank you everyone for posting, and explaining some of the gun laws in other countries.

Cheers

Well, at least I still have that right, to carry a weapon for self defence (concealed, of course), whether it is a pistol or a rifle with folding stock and a bayonet. Speaking of which, my latest aquisition:

Afy, that is a nice Sig 57 you have there. I already have plans for 2 rifles, one .300WM cal precision rifle and the Scorpion Evo 3 (damn this thing sounds like a car).

Good to know at least some Europeans can do it! Glad to hear you're one of them :)

Off topic question to you: How the hell do you adjust the (I suspect front) sight for windage on the VZ-58 / FSN01 ??? I bought one a couple of weeks ago and can't seem to find any useful instruction on the internet or from people at the range... They only recently started getting popular in this country... (the market has practically been flooded with them over the last months...)

My location's BC, Canada. My pictures are terrible and the dog got hair all over the carpet. Anyways:
