Glock gen 3

It should be noted that there were two versions of Gen3. Initially they had a 2 pin frame. But Glock changed the locking block and added a third pin through the frame to increase the strength. Why? It’s because the Gen3 wasn’t robust enough for the 40 S&W round. Glock soon made all Gen3 with the third pin (including the 9mm models). By the way, Gen4 are all 3 pin guns.
Glock has now returned to a 2 pin frame with the Gen5 models Why? I don’t know.
But the Gen5 is only available in 9mm.

I have a Gen3 G22 that was issued to me in 2002 by my dept. When problems with the 40’s came up, Glock replaced our two pin frames with three pin frames. My new frame had the same SN# but with a prefix added. I carried that gun on duty till we up graded to Gen4’s. I bought my Gen3 from the dept. for $298.

Yes.
Most often when someone tells you that a Gen2 or 3 , or what ever Gen is best, they have limited use or none with the other Gens.
I have two Gen3 19’s one has the RTF frame. I would have to say that the Gen3 RTF is my favorite 19. But of all my Glocks my Gen5 G45 is my favorite.
I also have two Polymer 80 guns. The 19 size one is a great shooter and I like it better the my regular Gen3 19. My Polymer 80 17 size frame has a 22 conversion on it.
But when it comes right down to it, the Gen that fits you will be the best.
Here’s a pic of the different frames from Gen1-4.

Oh! And for those that think the thumb rest that started with the Gen3 is useless, must never shoot one handed.
I wish I could get the Gen 3 RTF 2 texture on a Gen 5 frame, keeping the Gen 5's non-finger groove front strap. That was my favorite Glock grip texture.

I'd have bought it too...and I don't even like the G22.

You paid $2 less for yours than I did for my Gen2 G22
I haven’t shot my G22 much in the last 10 years, maybe 500 rounds. I have a Gen4 G17 issued to me right now, have had it for the last two years and have less then 1000 rounds through it. I will be able to buy it in August when I retire. I should be able to get it for around $300. :)

My gen 2 frame cracked and was replaced with a 3 by Glock. It cracked by the locking block according to them.

I was young and foolish when we were able to buy our issue pistols when the department changed issued gun, otherwise I'd own a department marked S&W M-15, S&W M-13, and SIG 229. The started issuing the Glock G22 shortly after I retired and recently just changed over to the G17

The Gen 4 with no backstrap is the gun I like best. I had one of the original release Gen 4 19s. I shot the snot out of it with no issues until the internet told me that it was supposed to throw brass into my face. I then replaced the allegedly corrupt parts.....and the the gun started throwing brass at my face. My carry and range favorite is again a G19 Gen 4. I have a Gen 5 too, but I prefer the 4 grip without magwell.
