Because the semi-circular opening is very uncomfortable. It's not as noticeable on the 17 but on the shorter grip of the 19 your pinky is over the hole. If you feel that you require it it's a simple operation to remove the material from the front strap yourself.

Can someone explain why the cut on the front of the 19 for magazine stripping is so disliked? I've had dirty mags that needed to be stripped out before, I think it's a good idea imho.

I have fairly large hands and did not notice any difference shooting the Gen 5 vs my Gen 2 as far as grip comfort with both being very comfortable for me. Did not hear anyone else complain about it either Saturday when I was at the Glock shoot demo.

I'd rather just shave the mags down to the proper width than have a giant hole in the frame.

You can always lock the slide back and knock the mag out from the top if you get mud or Skittles in there.

I'm probably going to pass, because three years ago I spent about $500 to turn my Gen 4 into basically a Gen 5 with a few extra tweaks.

I don't like those. If my mags don't drop free, I fix them, not cut holes in my frame.

There are people that shoot on the range... then there are people that shoot for a living. Glock designs their guns for the later, not the former. Being able to strip a magazine out of a gun quickly, without having to resort to some amateur hour antics like knocking it out form the top, is a necessity of design for a combat firearm either to clear malfunctions or because the environment you are working in just plain stinks. I've fed enough sand through pistols and wrench out enough magazines to know that it's not an option to not be able to strip them out.

So you'll give up an inch from the bottom of the front strap so the magazine might be able to be pulled out easier?

No thanks, that's too big of a trade for something I'll never need. My mags drop free no matter how much sand gets in there. Unless somewhere has sand thicker than .9mm.

It's nice to see reintroduction of Gens 1-2 with dual recoil springs and rail for mounting combat light/laser or combination of thereof. Basically unless found real cheap reason to buy Gen 1 or Gen 2 guns second-hand has ceased to exist.:scrutiny: I hope they have rail on G26 so I can trade my old one toward a brand new gun.

Like I said, Glock doesn't design their guns for you.

.9mm?

And yes, sand will stick a pistol magazine. The coarse stuff isn't that bad. It's the fine powdery stuff that gets you. It blows around and builds up a layer on everything. It's like someone dry walled everything on the front side of your body if you've been riding.

Sand isn't the half of it though. Hydraulic fluid is a real winner. Oh sure, it's slippery, right up until you get a thin layer of it between two objects, then it acts like a suction cup. Blood works pretty much the same.

I'm not even sure why there is actually a question about "drop free" magazines not doing so. Everyone that has the T-shirt knows this.

I am seeing conflicting reports about the new "marksman" barrel - is the rifling traditional or polygonal?

This data sheet says "octagonal" for the barrel profile. Octagonal means polygonal correct?

I had a chance to try out the Gen 5 Glock 17 yesterday when I went to the range. What a sweet shooter. I have not shot one in years and then only a magazine worth. Gen 5 G17 is a very soft shooter and the grip certainly did not feel like a 2X4 and felt pretty good. Trigger was pretty decent. I would buy one for sure if I was looking for a full size poly SF.

I shot 30 rounds at 7 yards at a casual pace of about a round every 1-2 seconds. Targets are 3 inch Shoot-N-C dots.

Saw this picture today of a Gen 5 poster.

No finger grooves. No standard front cocking serrations. A DLC coating. And a slightly rounded front end as seen on the 34/35.

What do you all think? I was hoping for a little more although I couldn't tell you what exactly. Just seems like a polished up Gen 2 for now.

Maybe the grip texture is more like the RTF series? Hard to tell in the shot.

I do not want one. It begs to ask when are some you folks going to stop being duped by this product repackiging 101 scheme?

It's good business and they have a huge loyal following, I bet there will be a wait to get one , I seen a local store taking pre orders for them, I myself will wait at least 6 months seems like first release with any manufacturer has recalls or updates some kind of issue

I'm thinking the upgraded trigger spring and bar might not be as great as they say. It seems the heat caused it to stick a few times. This is however a sample of one.

who in the hell freezes a gun then offers it as a rental??? what the ______ did I just watch?

There will be many you tube tactical ninja type reviews remember the HK VP9 reviews that dinged it because it failed as a hammer , throwing axe , car ramp and so on it gets silly with the you tube ninjas

I don't know. I was kind of wondering the same thing, but since I don't rent guns or go there I really didn't care. I was more interested in the result of the 1000 rounds

I may get one...if they build it from steel, give it better ergonomics, add a hammer and change their name to CZ75

What I still can not understand is why there are all these "Generations"??

If Glocks are "Perfection, as in Perfect", how can they be "improved"":):)

"The Bar has been raised again"!!

Why are there so freaking many "upgrades" to add to a Glock??

Heck you can even get a Polymer 80 frame to build your own??:what:
